Restyle Tuesday: Shopping Your Closet
Ladies, with everyone staying at home for the next couple of weeks many of us have been sharing our spring fashions by shopping our closet! My closet is already full of great clothes and most of them are trending again for spring!
I love this saying and began to think that our closets should represent our style and how we feel about ourselves.
Fashion is What you Buy,
Style is What You do with It.
Shop Your Closet for today’s latest fashions!
Shopping your closet is considered ethical fashion because we’re reusing and re-wearing our clothes year after year. Shopping in your closet is also called slow fashion. Slow Fashion is awareness and approach to fashion, which considers the processes and resources required to make clothing, particularly focusing on sustainability. It involves buying better-quality garments that will last for longer and value fair treatment of people, animals, and the planet.
So invest in quality pieces and classics that will stand the test of time!
The crochet style is trending again! This has been around for years and it seems that it’s again popular in 2020!
Polka dots are back too! (When did they ever leave?)
Colored denim is still going strong this spring and I just posted about this recently.
Dress up your older fashion with Trendy Accessories
This top is 4 years old and is still a favorite of mine because of the Ikat print and the detail on the collar. I recently purchased this gorgeous necklace and it sits so well in the curve of the neckline. I tied up aside to make it current.
This tweed jacket is over 10 years old but it’s still a classic that can be worn year after year. I layered on pearls to update this jacket and also purchase bow tie tweed mules to go with the jacket. Read more here.
Wear an Item from a Different Season
I purchased this leopard print top in the fall of 2016 and it’s still very fashionable because it’s classic. I even wore it again last spring for a post on Summer Blazer and Shorts and in 2018 leopard and linen for a great spring look. Don’t pigeonhole a look to be worn in the fall if it can be worn in the spring too.
Find new ways to wear your older Pieces
I love wearing my scarves in a different style that have been in my closet for years. One of my favorite ways of styling a scarf is wearing it backward. This silk scarf makes a grander entrance from the back.
Wearing a scarf on my hats as a hatband also is another fun style. I usually wear it as an accent piece over my skirts. Wearing it on my straw hat feels like a desert look. Wearing it as an accent piece over my skirts makes it feel like a gypsy style.
Or belt your scarf and make it a part of your outfit.
This outfit I wore for Valentine’s day was completely shopped from my closet. I love belting my leopard print scarf this way. Read more here.
Wear Jeans under a Dress
If you have a dress that is too short try wearing it with leggings or jeans to give it more life than tossing it.
I love wearing jeans under dresses for a different look.
There are so many ways to freshen up your wardrobe without spending a lot of money and many of our classic pieces are timeless.
Today’s Restyle Tuesday Fashionista is my wonderful friend Sunny Sherman (Old Fashion Guru)
I have been following Sunny on Instagram since she arrived on the scene. Sunny is a former fashion designer and can you believe 68 years young! She’s been doing terrific PSA posts that are hilarious as they are chic! Her style is uniquely her own and I look forward to seeing what shes’ wearing from her closet and how she styled it!
Thanks for stopping by today!
I would love to see how you restyle your clothes from your closet!
This is an updated post.
Hugs,
So many awesome outfits! I’m especially partial to your Valentines outfit. The vivid colors you incorporate really appeals to me. So cute! It’s amazing what a difference accessories make! As for crocheted items, I’m crocheting my own. Talk about “slow fashion.” 😜

So much beautiful style inspiration in one place, Robin! I do love Sunny’s style. I will definitely need to check her out! And that first outfit of yours with the crocheted sweater is my absolute favorite. It reminds me of Mori Girl fashion (“Mori Girl kei, is a Japanese fashion style created in 2007. … The concept of mori is to represent “a girl who looks like she is living in the forest,” and the goal is to look natural and earthy, which is typically achieved by layering at least two or three items to get a soft and slightly billowy silhouette.”) Thanks for linking up!

I love all these ideas! I hate getting rid of perfectly good clothing, but when I run out of ideas for how to give them a fresh look, they just take up space. Now I have some inspiration! Let’s see if I can make my scarves look as cute as you do. 😉
Camille,
We buy clothes we love so they should be used every year.
I bet you’re very good with your scarves my friend!
