Classic Style: The Tweed Jacket

Ladies, have you noticed a fashion trend for 2019 that has actually been around for years but is making a comeback for 2019 that you may have in your closet? I am talking about the classic tweed jacket.
I am heading off to Barcelona next week ( hello 50ish Barcelona women let’s meet up!) and I am thinking about what to pack for my trip. I have to pack items that can be interchangeable and not look like an American tourist in Spain.
I saw the last Paris fashion show for Chanel’s 2019 fall/winter collection honoring the late Karl Lagerfeld and realized I have something in my closet that is going to be trending this spring and will continue into winter.

The iconic Chanel tweed jacket was designed by Coco Chanel in 1954 has stood the test of time and is now trending again for 2019.

I found so many stores carrying a tweed jacket in their spring collection.

You can create your own style with these jackets!

The Chanel jacket has become a timeless classic worn year after year. It has been reinterpreted and reinvented by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Rothfeld, all while maintaining the aesthetic of the original design. It is a wardrobe staple that can be worn by anyone, adapting to each women’s personal flair.

FYI: Coco Chanel was 71-years-old when she reopened her atelier and designed the jacket!

My fringed tweed houndstooth jacket is 10 years old. It gets worn every year because it’s a classic and 2019 is the year for the classic tweed jacket!  It doesn’t have to be a Chanel but the tweed jacket is the best investment you can add to your wardrobe. It’s timeless and stylish. It’s so versatile and can be work even with jeans.

I am wearing 3 different faux pearl necklaces and layering necklaces is also a great fashion style.

I am wearing a long ruffled hem tunic over black skinny jeans with the fabulous mules I bought for Barcelona!

Have you been to Barcelona? Should I stick with a black and white wardrobe as I did for New York City? If you have been to Barcelona what places should I see?

Do you think this outfit will pass the European fashionistas approval?

Don’t worry I will wait for your answers if you’re busy following college basketball starting this weekend for March Madness. So am I! I will be cheering on the Florida Gators. What team will you be cheering for during the tournament?

Keep Calm. It’s March Madness!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Thank you my friend for stopping by today!
Tweed will be around all year in case you change your mind. So many stores have tweed jackets in their collection because they follow Chanel and the other big fashion houses for leading the way.

      Hugs,
      Robin

  5. Robin,
I love this post! You have so got it girlfriend.
This is the why we build a wardrobe not just buy to be buying. Another advantage of knowing ourselves in midlife.
I have been shopping my closet for Spring Break vacation too. We’re heading to the Dominican Republic and I have plenty of quality Floridian outfits. Just need a few pieces to refresh.
    Enjoy Barcelona!

      Rosemary,

Enjoy the DR! Staying in Punta Cana?
Yes, I agree with you. I have only purchase shoes this season and a few accessories because my main wardrobe is on repeat again for spring.
I build my wardrobe to last a few years and I don’t buy all the latest fashion.
I may purchase a transparent bag but I won’t buy transparent sandals. Some things are one season trends and I would rather spend my money on clothes I can see myself wearing for at least 3 years.
