Spring Trend: Colored Denim
Do you ladies own different colors of denim in your closet? For instance, do you have denim jackets, jeans, skirts, and blouses of different colors? Colored denim is going to be a big spring fashion trend and I am ready for it!
You can never have enough denim as far as I’m concerned even as a 60ish woman. What I love about this year’s spring denim trend is that I already have colored jeans in my closet that are over 4 years old!
Denim is always going to be a staple in your wardrobe whether it’s the classic navy, white, or black denim. I own 3 jean jackets in blue and white. I actually have an oversized denim jacket that is over 15 years old and it was my son’s until he shot up to 6’4″.
So isn’t it nice when you come across a trend that may actually be in your closet that truly stands the test of time? Something that not only works season after season but year after year?
The Classic Blue Denim Jacket
Denim jackets have been around forever are great for breezy summer nights or as a chic layer under a winter coat. They look cool with an oversized scarf and are the perfect outerwear of choice for spring.
I recently went shopping at Chico’s to see the latest Marla Wynne collection for Chico’s and walked out with a new denim jacket among other things. LOL!

The Classic White Denim Jacket
My favorite jacket to take on trips in the spring and summer is my white denim jacket. It’s clean and crisp and will elevate any outfit. White denim is slightly more sophisticated than blue, so it goes nicely with a dress or when you need to elevate your outfit.

How to Wear Colored Jeans over 50
I think you all familiar with classic blue, white and black jeans, right? How about walking on the wild side with another colored jean in your wardrobe? So many stores are showing all kinds of colors for denim jeans. But the question we have as women over 50 is will this trend still be popular beyond 2020?
The answer is yes. This trend has been around for many years and the jeans I am wearing I purchased in 2016. They are boyfriend jeans with a loose fit but I love wearing them in the spring with my denim jacket. The oversized scarf has a peach color in it and the olive green top complements the orange jeans. The scarf pulls this whole look together.
Choose the Right Style for Your 50ish Body
First of all, you should choose the right fit for your body shape. Fit plays one of the major rules. I always love jeans that have some stretch in them if I am going to wear slim-fitting jeans. Consider your body shape and silhouette. If you have heavy legs or don’t want to draw attention to your legs stay away from the bright colors this spring.
Selecting the right hemline is also important if you’re going to invest in colored jeans that can stand the test of time. Also, keep in mind that the hemline that hits just at the ankle will look flattering on almost everyone. Cropped styles may not last as long in your closet as ankle length.
The best colors for you will always be the one that makes you look fabulous and chic no matter what your age is!

Colored denim is so fun. I have very little in my wardrobe right now. However, I recently bought a “natural”/off white jacket which I am looking forward to wearing before it gets too hot.
