Swimsuits for the Over 50 Woman Part 1: Capriosca Swimwear

Ladies, is part of your summer fashion wearing a swimsuit?

This is a sponsored post with Capriosca Swimwear. All opinions and fashion styles are purely my own!

Have you struggled as you’ve gotten older with what type of swimsuit you wear? Do you shy away from wearing a two-piece because you think you’re too old? Is it because of your body shape? Or your confidence in wearing a two-piece swimsuit because of your age?

I have watched my body show signs of aging, sun damage, and veins in my legs (from 4 children and being on my feet as a flight attendant) that only gets worse year after year. I am not the firm woman who used to rock a bikini well into my late 40’s with my athletic body ( but I can still see them hiding beneath the extra layer of fat waiting for me to get more disciplined in my eating habits and fitness routines.)

I am not thin and tall like many of the young models, silver-haired models, or the thin social media influencers who exemplify a certain standard of beauty that, for most of us, is not obtainable.  I represent a larger group of women who are not thin, have a little extra something somewhere on our bodies we’re not happy with and are comfortable with our bodies. We still, wear a two-piece swimsuit. Because we want to. I wrote about wearing a bikini last summer.

I loved it when Capriocsa Swimwear contacted me and wanted to do a collaboration. I checked out their website and realized they market to curvy women which I fall into since I went from a 34B pre menopause to a 38D. (That’s a whole nother story. The girls just showed up late in life.) Can I have an Amen to all of you reading this blog post about going up in bra sizes because of menopause? I have only gained 10 pounds since menopause but EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED!

About Capriosca Swimwear

Capriosca Swimwear based in Australia, was created to fill a large gap in curvy, plus-size swimwear that needed to be filled in the swimwear market. They wanted to help create beautiful, durable and confident swimsuits for women with curves. Their goal is to provide swimwear for every curvy, body shape so every woman can feel sexy and confident in her swimsuit whether she’s on vacation, at the beach or simply in her own backyard.

I really appreciate that Capriosca Swimwear has Post Mastectomy Swimsuits, Maternity Swimsuits, Wetshirts, and Bikinis for the curvy woman.

So many times I have thought of wearing a two-piece swimsuit in public but I wanted more coverage on my tush with a high waisted bottom, not an itsy bitsy bikini bottom. Even though I’m short waisted I feel more comfortable and confident in this swimsuit because of the off the shoulder ruffles on top. The bottoms have wonderful support and the fabric isn’t thin like you would find at a lower price.

Now I am confident sitting at the beach or at the pool wearing this adorable swimsuit that is stylish and chic for a curvy woman!

  2. Great post! I really appreciate the straight talk about the challenges of swimsuits in midlife. It’s wonderful that a brand is recognizing woman who are not model thin yet want to wear a fashion forward swim suit. Yay!

  3. You look great! I used to wear a two piece all the time, but I switched to a one piece a couple of years ago. I think it’s great that we can feel free to wear whatever we want!

I love everything about this blog post!! Thank you for giving a voice to those of us who are not stick thin and still want to wear a two piece swimsuit! I like the full coverage bottoms and am so glad they’re in style. I have a large vertical scar from an emergency C-section 36 years ago. Even when I was thin and fit I still didn’t wear low bikini bottoms because of the scar. I am tired of always wearing a one piece or a tankini! I posted a pic on IG of me in a two piece! Finally, I am wearing what I want to wear!

  5. Robin,
