RoC Skincare for Your Daily Routine
Ladies, are you taking good care of your skin as you’ve gotten older? As we get older, our skincare products need to address many issues we face over midlife, like dryness, fine lines, brown spots, and wrinkles due to the loss of estrogen and years of sun exposure. Because I am guilty of not taking good care of my skin I have been using RoC skincare for the last few years and getting excellent results!
This is a sponsored post with RoC skincare; however, my opinions are my own.
Skincare over 50ish
The focus of skincare for women, especially those over 50, is usually on ways to keep skin looking younger, hence all the anti-aging skin care products. But instead of focusing on having youthful skin, work on keeping your skin healthy. When you have healthy skin, you look your best, no matter what your age.
Here are nine ways to do just that.
1. Protect Your Skin from the Sun.
Spending too much time in the Sun will dry out your skin and make it look leathery and dull and increase your risk of skin cancer. No matter your age, use sunscreen, stay out of the direct Sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.
2. Eat your fruits and veggies.
Did you know what you eat influences your skin health and complexion? The American Academy of Dermatology suggests consuming plenty of fruits and vegetables, proteins, and healthy fats to keep skin healthy. In addition, one Scottish study found that the carotenoids (the orange-red pigment) in fruits and vegetables give your skin a healthy tone.
3. Drink plenty of water.
Your skin needs moisture, and drinking water helps to hydrate it from the inside. Unfortunately, as people age, they become more susceptible to dehydration because they lose some of their sense of thirst, according to a report on hydration and health published in 2010. Dehydration can lead to dry skin as well as other health problems.
4. Use a humidifier in the dry winter months.
During the cold months when you’re heating your home, add a humidifier. You can add a whole-house humidifier to your heating equipment or place a room-size one where you spend the most time. And be sure to put a humidifier in your bedroom.
5. Use a mild cleanser on your face.
Soaps tend to dry your skin. Instead, use a mild cleanser with warm water to keep your face clean and fresh. Avoid scrubbing your skin, which eliminates essential oils and can dry it out. Always wash your face before going to bed to wash away the dirt and the grime of the day.
6. Skip the long, hot baths or showers
You might find long baths or showers relaxing, but spending too much time in hot water dries out your skin. Instead, lower the temperature of the water and limit the time to 10 minutes.
7. Moisturize every day
As you age and your skin becomes drier, you might have to change your moisturizer to one more suited to your new skin type. Look for thick, creamy moisturizers that are oil-based. Be sure to apply moisturizer all over at least once a day.
8. Add Retinol
Why is Retinol so important for our skin? Retinol is a retinoid, a derivative of vitamin A that naturally occurs in the skin. Because Retinol works by boosting the skin’s renewal process and helps to diminish multiple signs of aging, including lines and wrinkles, dark spots, and a loss of elasticity. Retinol is one of the most effective forms of retinoid you can buy without a prescription. Retinol works deep within the skin’s surface to reveal renewed, fresher-looking skin. As we age, the skin’s renewal process slows down, and skin becomes duller. Retinol helps remove old, dull skin cells on the surface to reveal fresher, healthier-looking skin. Retinol skincare can make a significant impact on the skin’s appearance.
Apply every other night to start — if flaking, redness, or further irritation occurs, Retinol can also help the delicate skin around your eyes where fine lines and wrinkles usually show up first. Look for an eye cream that combines Retinol with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, or niacinamide.
9. Exfoliate
Exfoliating your skin gets rid of dead skin cells that can make your skin look dull and flaky. But don’t do it more than once a week, or your skin can get dried out. Instead, use a mild store-bought product or make your own from brown sugar and coconut oil.

Did you know this about RoC Skincare?
RoC Skincare has been revolutionizing skincare since 1957 when Dr. Jean-Charles Lissarrague, a French pharmacist at the Rogé Cavaillès pharmacy, created the first hypoallergenic skincare formulations. This was the first of many collaborations with dermatologists to provide safe and effective products for their patients. Dr. Lissarrague believed in innovative skincare solutions based on science to help women look and feel their best at every age.
For more than 60 years, that has been the foundational philosophy at RoCSkincare, inspiring the history of firsts. The first SPF sunscreen to proactively prevent signs of aging and the first to discover a method for stabilizing Retinol. By combining Retinol with other ingredients like Vitamin E and using innovative packaging, RoC® made it possible for daily use. Today, Retinol is still one of the greatest anti-aging discoveries in the history of skincare.
They have been perfecting this formula for more than 25 years and are one of the leading experts in retinol skincare. Every treatment formula is scientifically crafted and clinically tested to ensure the best quality.

It makes my skin feel so hydrated!
Hi Robin
I would say I follow all of your tips with the exception of having to take hot baths. I take them with Epsom salts for my muscles, but beyond that all are good to do. I have wanted to try Roc, and it is good to hear positives about this brand. I should give the eye cream a go!

Robin, thanks for sharing this product and linking up. I just posted today how flaxseed oil has improved my skin tremendously just by consuming 1 tablespoon daily. We really do need to care for our skin!

Great reminders! Especially the nutrition piece… It’s so easy to forget that as we head into the holiday season and then wonder why our skin looks a mess! I love my ROC every evening, too. I have very sensitive skin, and it was easy to start every other day and move up to daily!
Good Morning Robin,
Such great skincare tips and not at all difficult to follow through with. The only one I can’t give up is long showers 😌
Thank you for sharing such wonderful advice,
Nancy
