End of Summer Party with Paperless Post

Ladies, it’s Labor Day weekend and my annual end of summer party!

This post is a collaboration with Paperless Post, but all opinions are my own.

We tend to entertain a lot at our home with baby showers, engagement parties, holiday parties, the Masters, and now we host birthday parties for our littlest LaMonte, Livie Lee.
I find it so easy to send online invitations to our parties and absolutely love Paperless Post! They have an invitation for every occasion!

We have been receiving Paperless posts to weddings and receive holiday cards from friends who don’t have the time to shop, go to the post office, and mail cards.

Online cards and invitations have become very popular with our Millenials (who love everything digital!) that I find sending cards and invitations via email a breeze! Our generation and our parents still find it proper to write and mail letters, cards, and invitations that we may be slow at grasping how easy this is. It’s also considered proper to now do everything online. Handwritten notes are still cherished, but I also appreciate emails too.

Red, White, and Blue Table

Remember back in May when I said that a red, white, and blue theme for entertaining will carry you through the summer holidays? The last party of the summer on Labor Day is also considered a patriotic holiday and I am ready to entertain again! My tableware is still the same except I change up my flowers to sunflowers and hydrangeas.

I use plastic and melamine tableware when entertaining near the pool in case something is dropped. Broken glass is dangerous when you’re barefoot! A metal watering can is a perfect vase for flowers and creates a cute centerpiece!

Menu Ideas

So many wonderful recipes are available using our summer vegetables. I love cooking from scratch when I entertain and the following recipes are perfect for our last summer party. I must confess that I rarely open up on my vast collection of cookbooks anymore (except when the menu calls for my classic recipes from cookbooks I collected when I was a flight attendant or given to me by my mother or mother in law) and search Pinterest for new recipes. So many wonderful food bloggers are putting their recipes on Pinterest and I can spend hours reading each one!

What says welcome to fall better than apples! We used to go apple picking in Minnesota when I was little and always looked forward to my mom’s apple crisp that was a recipe from her mother, my Grandma Ella. This is so much easier than making a homemade pie! You can even microwave apple crisp if you don’t want to use the oven. This can be made ahead and bake it during dinner so it’s warm from the oven for dessert!
