Red, White, and Blue Entertaining in Style

Ladies, Memorial Day weekend is almost here but this is the season of the red, white, and blue entertaining! From now until Labor Day weekend every holiday has a patriotic theme!

I love summer entertaining because the menu is easy to prepare and the pool is our entertainment.  Casual dining in the summer is a perfect way to entertain family and friends. I love creating table settings for the season or holiday and the red, white, and blue table decor is perfect for the 4th of July and Labor Day parties.

This table setting can take you from Memorial Day to Labor Day. All you have to do is put fresh flowers on the table when you entertain this summer or you can purchase silk flowers and keep it up all summer long!

Use China Outdoors?

Absolutely if you are comfortable setting tables with china instead of plastic. I am showing you how to create both today on the blog but the centerpiece stays the same for both.

I used a white vinyl table cloth and scrubbable red checked placemats with my china. I purchased these red rose salad plates 20 years ago at an estate sale and use them all the time. I love to shop for china at antique shops or estate sales. The wine glasses were brought back from Murano, outside of Venice, Italy. If you travel to Venice you must go to the island of Murano to see the hand blown glass! Amazing artisans!

Using Plastic and Melamine Dishes

You can get the same effect of an elegant table setting using melamine dishes, plastic wine glasses, silverware, and paper napkins for your red, white, and blue table setting. Not everyone is comfortable using their chinaware outside for entertaining.

The temperatures in the 90’s and we’re going to be enjoying our pool this weekend.

The garden is in full bloom and I’ve placed little flags in pots. I come from a military family and always appreciate and support our soldiers. I am an avid gardener and love having flowers around our pool. I make no apologies for adding premade floral baskets among the annuals, roses, and perennials. I love digging in the dirt but as I’ve gotten older letting someone else make pretty baskets is just fine by me. (Where’s Waldo moment: the camera captured a hanging basket I forgot to remove the hanger from!)

Here’s to red, white, and blue entertaining in style!
