How To Use a Body Scrub on Your Face for Women Over 50

Ladies, are you wondering how to get that glow the easiest way? I’m here to let you in on the secret… it’s exfoliation! Using a face or body scrub is such a simple way to brighten up your skin and address many of those skin concerns.

Why Exfoliating Helps Your Complexion

Our skin builds up a layer of dead cells over time, which can make it look older and have a dull appearance. This happens to all of us throughout our lifetimes, so using a scrub is an excellent option no matter your age.

It’s an even better idea, however, when you’re over 50. That’s because regular exfoliation can also help to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation and discoloration, too. Face and body scrubs remove impurities and add oxygen to your skin, and that helps to improve elasticity.

As the skin is delicate at this stage of life, it’s a good idea to choose a scrub with a gentle level of exfoliation. By gently removing dead skill cells, we end up with a fresher-looking face. This allows our natural beauty to shine through. Discover more about why self-care beauty routines are important as we age.

How Often to Use a Body Scrub

It’s a good idea to exfoliate at least once a week, to help keep your skin soft, smooth, and healthy. If you’re new to this skincare process, then let your skin get used to it before you build up to more regular use.

If you have dry, flaky skin, you’ll probably benefit from exfoliating more often. When you use a gentle formulation, you can even use it three times a week. Just bear in mind that it’s a good idea to consult your dermatologist before embarking on a new skincare regime if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin. When to Use an Exfoliator

Using a scrub helps to clear pores and clears the way for your skin to absorb all the goodness from your moisturizer. That means you can slot it into your skincare routine when you cleanse and before you moisturize. When your skin is damp and warm it’ll get the most from exfoliation, so soften up your skin in warm water first.

On the one, two or three days a week you exfoliate, you might choose to add it as a morning habit to start your day off right or do it at the end of the day. You only need to do it once on that day, not twice.

What are your thoughts on adding exfoliation to your skincare regime?
