How I Styled My Kimono Jacket

Ladies if you’re like me, you probably have a couple of kimonos sitting in your closet. I love the fact that the kimono style jacket that is trending again this summer!

Kimonos are the perfect lightweight jacket to wear on a summer day that’s not too hot—or a spring/fall day that’s not too cold. They flutter and flow when you walk and make you look sophisticated and stylish as a woman over 50.

Since kimonos are a contemporary version of a traditional centuries-old Japanese garment, they will likely have staying power. They hide so many body flaws and are perfect to wear with jeans, dresses, shorts, or as a swimsuit coverup. Just remember to keep it comfy, but don’t be afraid to throw on a statement necklace, either.

Kimono Jacket Styled with Jeans or Pants

Wearing a kimono jacket over a pair of your favorite white denim jeans elevates your white denim to the next level. I am sure you have noticed women wearing kimono jackets or robes with jeans in the past couple of years. They look chic and how I love they flow when you walk!

Kimono Jacket Styled with a Dress

I took the kimono along with me on my trip to the Cloister at Sea Island last year and wore it over a gauzy dress.  We went out for dinner on our anniversary at the Georgian Room which required my husband to wear a jacket and I thought this kimono looked wonderful for dinner! I was so happy that I had my kimono jacket because the dining room was very chilly!

Wearing a kimono over a dress is just like wearing a wrap for extra warmth when the restaurants are cold or if you’re dining outdoors this summer.

Layer on chunky necklaces and bracelets to complete your look.

This is one item that you can pull out of your closet year after year and it will still look chic. A kimono jacket can also be the signature piece that speaks of your style — and does it with class!
