Collagen for Her: Why I’m Adding Collagen to My Diet
Ladies, I am on a mission to help my hair, skin, bones, joints, and nails look healthier as I have gotten older. My hair has thinned and my nails are paper thin. Let’s not even discuss how dry my skin is! Lately, I have been reading about the benefits of taking collagen as a woman over 50. Even though I eat many foods that help produce collagen, I wanted to boost my collagen by trying Collagen for Her.
This post is sponsored by Collagen for Her, however, all opinions are my own.
What is collagen?
Benefits of adding collagen to your diet
Collagen plays a vital role in our overall health, but we don’t get enough of it in our diet. I try to eat foods that are beneficial in maintaining healthy joints, digestion & gut health, hair, and skin but I need more as I have gotten older. Since menopause, I have noticed my hair thinning and my skin becoming crepey, saggy, and wrinkled because of low collagen.
Since we’re losing collagen as we age, it makes sense to add collagen to your diet. This can help improve the look and feel of your skin, hair, nails, joints, and digestion!
Skin
Did you know that adding a soluble collagen supplement to your diet can help increase the collagen levels in your body? Which in turn helps to maintain smooth and firm skin?
Additionally, taking collagen supplements may promote the production of other proteins that help structure your skin, including elastin and fibrillin!
Hair and Nails
Collagen helps increase blood flow in your body, which in return increases blood flow to your scalp and nails. This helps provide your hair follicles with the necessary amino acids and nutrients needed for strong, healthy hair.
Promotes Healthy Digestion and Immune System
Collagen is beneficial to gut health. Because collagen contains large amounts of the amino acids glycine, glutamine, and proline which can be beneficial to the intestinal tract as well as the stomach. Glycine helps to maintain digestive health and a healthy intestinal tract. Glutamine is another amino acid that has been tied to helping the body’s metabolism and help curb your desire for sugar and alcohol.
Healthy Joints and Bones
As we age, we produce less collagen, which leads to that achy stiffness and tighter joints and tendons, and your risk of developing degenerative joint disorders such as osteoarthritis increases.
Adding a collagen supplement to your diet can help to maintain healthy joints, bones, and tendons.
Collagen for Her
I loved learning that Collagen for Her was created by a woman for women. Because I am looking for solutions to help my hair, nails, and skin get healthier I was excited to try this product. Collagen for Her gave me to try any of the following products for this blog post. The Unflavored Collagen Peptides, the Marine Collagen Beauty Blend, the Multi-Collagen Capsules, and the Unflavored Collagen Peptides-Stick Packets.
I decided to try the Multi-Collagen Capsules first because they contain five types of collagen in one capsule – Collagen Types I, II, III, V, X. The more the merrier I always say! You have to take 3 capsules a day. I just take them in the morning along with vitamin C which I had read helps to boost your collagen. Only the Marine Collagen Beauty Blend contains 100% 100% daily Vitamin C, biotin, and hyaluronic acid. Which I am very excited to try next! I will post an update late in the year.
But you can take the capsules along with any of the Collagen for Her collagen powders!
Collagen for Her is also Paleo & Keto Friendly: Non-GMO, Hormone Free, & Sugar, Dairy, Gluten, and Soy Free!
How long does it take to see results from taking Collagen?

I take Biotin daily because my nails were looking awful – very thin. I could see the difference within about 3 months.
