Wellness Wednesday: The Power of She

Ladies, I apologize that this Wellness Wednesday is posting on a Thursday ( Should have changed the title before I published it) but I have been so busy with the finishing details from our successful event in Atlanta that I wanted to share with you one of our speakers and brand that participated in the event. Do you ever purchase from a company because of its philanthropic mission to empower women?  I met the most amazing women speakers who inspired and empowered us with their journey in life. When I reached out to Athleta, (a brand I wear for exercise) back in September I knew they wanted to be a part of the event but was even more excited when 3 women who are brand ambassadors for Athleta wanted to speak about the Power of She.

What are Brand Ambassadors?

Active, optimistic and inclusive, Athleta Ambassadors exemplify the Power of She. This group of fitness instructors, health & wellness professionals, and women living their lives in motion are our most passionate champions. They represent Athleta in the community, in our stores, online, and in our catalog. Athleta Ambassadors are dedicated to helping women and girls reach their limitless potential.

The Power of She

The Power of She brings to life the brand’s mission to ignite a community of active, confident women and girls to reach their limitless potential and celebrates the power of sisterhood with the mantra “Alone We Are Strong, United We Thrive.”

When the store and the community event coordinator Wendy Henslee and I discussed participation at the event we really thought it would benefit the attendees to meet women over 40 who are all about fitness and a healthy lifestyle. I was introduced to 3 vibrant and inspiring women who shared their journey in wellness and loved hearing their stories.

Meet Molly Mathis of Mojo Active Adventures

Molly is a mother of two teenage boys and started MoJo Adventures as a way to fulfill her own passion while also filling a void she saw in the travel market. It’s an adventure travel company for women that’s focused on delivering unique experiences in small group settings. The locations, activities and general flow of each trip are what make us stand out. The overall goal is for guests to come back feeling recharged and interested in seeking out new experiences as part of their personal growth.

What are the benefits of taking her “Girl Adventure Trips”?

  1. Learning to embrace the new — broadening a friendship base and building a new, stronger network.
  2. Getting out of your comfort zone — breaking your own mold can make you more confident in both your personal and professional life.
  3. Prioritizing deeper experiences — not surprisingly, research has shown new experiences to be a key to overall happiness.

Two of the attendees stopped by at the After Party and said they are ready to take an active girl’s trip together. Molly and I have discussed creating an Influencer of Midlife trip designed just for us. Let me know if this is something you would love to sign up for!

Meet Kim Saunders of Lift Yoga Studio

The first time I saw Kim I thought to myself what a beautiful woman she is but her beauty goes deeper than the surface of her skin. As the owner of Lift Yoga Studio in Alpharetta, she believes in the mind/body connection and accessing not only the physical body but also the mental and emotional parts of ourselves as well.

Kim’s mission is to help you to find wholeness in your body, mind, and spirit. As an integrative psychotherapist, she is uniquely qualified to help you to find balance in these areas when talk alone will not suffice. As both a Psychotherapist and Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Kim uses mindfulness, cognitive behavior skills, and cutting edge techniques to approach healing in a different way.

She has experienced cancer, death, infertility, and trauma, and wants to assist others to move forward after loss and heartbreak.

Meet Leslie Graham of 3:8 Juice and Eatery

Athleta isn’t only about the physical activity for living a healthy lifestyle but also about the food we eat to nourish our bodies.

Leslie Graham is the owner of 3:8 Juice and Eatery and like many moms, Leslie Graham started gaining weight with each pregnancy and found it increasingly harder to take the extra pounds off – even after her children were born.

But the goal to be healthier was more important than the numbers on the scale – and led her directly to a new life and career path. Today, Graham is 90 pounds lighter than she was just four years ago and is the owner of 3:8 Juice & Eatery where she helps her customers meet their health goals as well.

Graham was first introduced to the concept of juicing four years ago when she came across a television documentary, “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead.” The film chronicled the life of an individual who lost considerable weight by drinking only fruit and vegetable juice which he made himself. Graham was immediately hooked on the idea.

Her husband was cautious at first, urging her to try working at a juice bar before opening her own. She did exactly that, and within one year the opportunity to open 3:8 Juice & Eatery presented itself. The name refers to the Bible verse from Proverbs, Graham explained, adding if you put good things in your body, you are protecting yourself from many diseases and costly medications.

“Our mission at 3:8 Juice is to promote wellness. We want to [help] our customers learn to take control of their health,” Graham said of her business model.

We ran out of time with our wonderful brand ambassadors from Athleta but I have invited them and Athleta back next year to share more information with our attendees.

Leslie will be sharing her juices and healthy recipes with us which I am very excited about I hope you can join us in 2020!

What an amazing group of women who represent Athleta’s message for the Power of She.

It’s about community, support, and inspiration for being the best you can be! #PowerofShe #Seeher

Have you found your tribe? Join us in Atlanta in 2020!

Thank you Athleta for your wonderful brand ambassadors who inspired and and empowered us this past weekend. That you for the lovely swag bags too!
