Red, White, and Blue for Memorial Day Weekend

Ladies, what are your plans for Memorial Day weekend? As we salute our fallen heroes who protected our country and our freedom this holiday weekend, it’s also our summer kick-off to outdoor entertaining! The temperatures are going to be perfect in Atlanta for an outdoor pool party and we’re having the kids over for burgers and dogs with a few salads. I love entertaining in the summer, especially for the holidays. My red, white, and blue table setting will be perfect for Memorial Day and the 4th of July.

Since we will be spending our time outdoors grilling and eating on the porch this weekend I decided that it’s time to wear shorts and summer tops.

Yes, I just got my haircut this week and of course, I had to stop by at the Chico’s store next door. I wanted to buy some tops and shorts for the summer. Since I prefer a longer length when it comes to shorts I will buy many colors of the same style. These shorts are my favorite! I have them in 3 colors. You have seen the tan-colored shorts when I styled them with my linen blazer.

Are you afraid to wear sleeveless tops because your arms are not toned and firm anymore? I have come to accept that my arms have sagging skin and lack the muscle tone they used to have from neglecting my weight routine since COVID-19 began. They were much firmer but they still had crepey skin. I can be in a plank position and look over at my arms with all the wrinkles! YIKES!! I need to get back into a strength routine again instead of just yoga, walking, and golfing. Lifting weights really tone the arms.

I have to tell you, ladies, that this tunic top is so comfortable and I love how it fits on me. it comes in 4 solid colors as well as animal print and this navy striped version. I think I will wear it tucked into my white denim skirt to dress it up a bit more for dinner. Even wear a white denim jacket with my skirt.

Unfortunately, my red sandals are from 2019 and no longer exist.  I will add some cute red sandals that would look darling with this outfit.

I have done so many red, white, and blue table settings but I couldn’t resist this melamine dinnerware that I received from Belk’s when I did a collaboration with them on Instagram! I received dinner plates with the cutest patriotic salad plates and nesting storage serving bowls for our collaboration. The dinner and salad plates are sold in a group of 4 and the storage bowls come in a group of 3. They are all on sale now!

My Memorial Day Menu

I love grilling hot dogs and hamburgers when we entertain the family. Easy and simple recipes that can be prepared ahead of time. My favorite and most requested dessert in the summer is the Bisquick Strawberry Shortcake that I loved as a little girl growing up in Minnesota.
