How to Style Joggers When You’re Over 50

The athleisure fashion trend is hotter than ever, and joggers are its center. However, I didn’t embrace joggers readily. I was concerned they weren’t my style because most of the looks I was seeing weren’t as polished as I like for myself. However, I became more inspired as I saw joggers being up-styled. So, I thought I would share my fashion tips today on how to style joggers when you’re over 50.

Peach sponsors this post. However, all opinions are my own.

What are Joggers?

Joggers are pants that taper at the bottom and typically hit mid-calf and just above the ankle. That’s the only “rule” for joggers; beyond that, they can have many different features. For example, some have thick leg cuffs and a simple elasticized band. Some are high-waisted, some are low-rise, some have pockets, and others don’t.

Look for dressier fabrics.

These stretch-woven Napa Joggers pair equally well with fashion sneakers or pumps. Crepe, twill, and striping down the sides are also fabulous choices.

Wear a slim-fit style

To not feel like you’re borrowing your daughter’s sweats, it’s essential to choose fitted joggers rather than baggier, more relaxed pairs.

Top your joggers with a Long Cardigan, Duster, Jacket, or Blazer

There’s nothing more elegant than wearing a long cardigan, jacket, or blazer with your slim-fitted joggers. The result is an incredibly refined, modern look paired with decidedly unstructured joggers.

I wore the olive green snake print sneakers in this post from last year. They are so comfortable and stylish. Worth every penny!

Make sure your overall look is finished.

When wearing joggers, it’s easy to look like you ran out of the house in your sweats. To avoid this, consider your outfit’s details from head to toe. This could be as simple as wearing a coordinating top or putting on some jewelry, but it makes a huge impact.

Don’t forget to accessorize

With something as casual as joggers, accessories can make the outfit. Sure, some outfits call for a statement necklace but don’t underestimate the power of a simple belt occasionally. I had a fringed velvet scarf that I used with my joggers as a belt. My chunky gold neck and gold cuff

Those are the details that help “finish” your look.

One final thing: Joggers are outrageously comfortable and fun to wear, especially if they’re new to you. Don’t be surprised if you find that you’re suddenly wearing yours on repeat!

Until next time!
