Williamsburg during the Holidays - Part One What Williamsburg during the Holidays - Part One What a wonderful girls trip we had visiting Williamsburg during the holidays with @visitwilliamsburg #Visitwilliamsburgpartner We stayed in a four-bedroom, four-bath cottage on the James River at @kingsmillresort . This cottage is perfect for gathering friends and family while visiting Williamsburg. My ensuite had a king-sized bed and a lovely bathroom. After we settled in, we headed to @cochonon2nd for a lovely dinner. I highly recommend the beef tenderloin—it was so tender and delicious! Our first night was spent visiting @buschgardensva Christmas Town. This is a spectacular Christmas light display with many heartwarming shows. The next day, we grabbed a quick bite and some java at @baketheburg before heading to the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg @cwresorts . As an interior designer who studied furniture history, I really enjoyed seeing the furniture from Great Britain and America from the middle of the 17th century through the 1830s. There was also a section for fashion and musical instruments from that period that I thoroughly enjoyed. We grabbed lunch at @bluetalonbistro before heading over to @colonialwmsburg Christmas Decorations Tour. We saw so many front doors decorated with decor from authentic colonial times. Did you know that every holiday decoration must go through a checklist of what is allowed to be put on the decoration to be genuine early colonial decor? Williamsburg’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting begins at the courthouse steps with a choir, a reading of The Night Before Christmas, and a fife and drum band playing Christmas songs. Dinner was at Giuseppe’s @pasta_for_life . It was very good, and everyone enjoyed their dinner! There’s not a word yet for old friends who’ve There’s not a word yet for old friends who’ve just met. That’s how I feel when I meet women who I have followed on Instagram. They are like old friends even though we have never met in person. Yesterday we had such an easy conversation with loud laughter that seemed like we had known each other for years. That’s how I feel every time I meet someone in person that I have been following here. That’s why I created the @influencersofmidlife summit. I wanted a place where we could gather and spend time together. I’m thinking of doing another one in 2025 but it’s not finalized yet. It’s going to be a master class and a girls getaway trip at the same time. I haven’t picked the destination hotel but I have asked a few women who came to Savannah would they want to be together again. Without hesitation they said yes. Stay tuned for more information in 2025. Martini 🍸 Time Did you know that “martini t Martini 🍸 Time Did you know that “martini time “ is a Hollywood term for the end of a production day. The director or assistant director will announce that it’s “martini time” to let the crew know that the day is almost over. The term is a humorous reference to the fact that the crew can soon take a break and enjoy a drink. I first heard the term when we were shooting a video for @visitwilliamsburg to be used on their website. The head of production said it to us at the end of our shoot. ( I will share a photo of the BTS in my stories) What a perfect way to end a day full of shooting content . Chocolate Peppermint Martini 🍸 Ingredients 2 oz Baileys Irish Cream 1 oz Peppermint schnapps 1 oz chocolate Vodka 2-3 candy canes crushed Honey or chocolate syrup Instructions Put the candy canes or peppermint candies in a plastic bag or in between two sheets of parchment paper. Gently smash the candies with a rolling pin until they become small pieces. Dip the rim of the martini glass (or whatever glass you’re using) into honey or chocolate syrup until a thin layer forms around the rim. Dip the rim into the peppermint candy pieces until lightly coated. Place the glass in the freezer for 5 minutes. Add ice to a cocktail shaker, along with the schnapps, Bailey’s, and chocolate Vodka. Shake well for 10-15 seconds until chilled. Gently pour into your candy cane-rimmed martini glass, sip, and enjoy!
