Tuesday Style Link up with J.Jill

Ladies, you know how much I enjoy wearing J.Jill clothes but did you know they also were a sponsor for the Influencers of Midlife Summit held in January?

This is a sponsored post with J.Jill.

I am slowly catching my breath after an extremely hectic last six months putting together the very first Influencers of Midlife Summit that was held at the Hotel at Avalon in January. Part of what made the event so successful and special are the brands that participated in our event. Every woman who attended made remarks to me about the importance of having brands whose audience is the over 40-year-old woman having a presence at this conference. We were extremely successful in getting brands to participate and I think they enjoyed the event as much as the attendees did.

I had approached J.Jill in September to participate in our event and I wanted to take the time now to publicly thank them for supporting my event and the wonderful swag bag and fashion show they put on for the event.

We had 84 attendees signed up for the inaugural event with speakers and an expo. About 25 women I have been following on social media and their blogs came from across the country. I was thrilled to meet and connect with women face to face. As I had stated in my social media session, the internet can bring us together as women on a daily basis, but put a face and spend one on one time with these women takes our relationship to a higher level. I was so honored that Brenda Coffee of 1010 Park Place was our luncheon keynote speaker. I am looking forward to reading her memoir after hearing her story.

This summit was designed to educate and inspire women who want to plan for their second act as the next step in the second chapter of their lives. We had interior designers, female entrepreneurs, real estate professionals, and bloggers who wanted to learn how to build a better business.

We focused on the business aspect of gaining an audience, working with brands, writing, and living our best life after midlife.

Lisa Washington was our inspirational speaker who probably won the best vegan dessert award at an event. You will see more of Lisa later as I discuss the importance of connecting ALL WOMEN OVER 40 .

I was inspired by many of our speakers and wanted to learn more about their businesses and how they impact women over 40. Athleta sent their brand ambassadors and they were so delightful that I have asked them to join us again in 2020.

It was decided that we would do a fashion show of J.Jill’s latest February collection and bring in models of different body shapes and heights to be Real models instead of the perfect runway models who grace the magazines.

Lisa Jackson is the district manager of the southern region for J.Jill and she coordinated the fashion show for us. She worked with the Avalon store managers Lucy Boatright and Erika Plante to bring us a fabulous fashion show.

Our swag bag was full of wonderful gifts from all the brands and sponsors who participated in the event.

Everyone commented the next day how lovely the necklace was that J.Jill had put in their swag bag for the event. I have to agree it was very special.

The Outfit

J.Jill was gracious to donate this outfit that I’m wearing for the event. I met Lisa Jackson and her wonderful team from the store in Avalon to pick out what I was wearing at the event.

I selected this blush colored shrug to wear with the stretch cotton pink shirt for the event. Because I wanted to represent the casual and comfortable style I’ve come to love about J.Jill I selected to wear the snap hem jeans in gray.

  1. You look so lovely in blush pink. It sounds like your conference turned out so well. I will keep my eyes open for the next one (fingers crossed), my life has been a bit chaotic lately to commit to an event. I would like to make contacts with sponsors as I think it’s a great opportunity to show a brand’s versatility.

  2. Glad the meet-up was a success. I love your outfit. I got hooked on cocoon cardis last autumn and this blush shrug paired with soft grey jeans is a perfect example of how the shrug works so well in our wardrobes.I

    1. Rosemary,

I agree that a fashion show of real women wearing clothes is a nice idea.
J.Jill is a brand that appeals to real women and it was a nice change to feature real women instead of the skinny models we usually see in fashion shows.
