Tuesday Style Link up with Soft Surroundings
Ladies, are you already thinking about spring fashion? I think I’ve had enough of the cold dreary weather in Atlanta and need to brighten my spirits with this bright sunny outfit I wore at the Influencers of Midlife Summit in January from Soft Surroundings.
This outfit was gifted by Soft Surroundings and did you know we had the honor of having Jessica Connick speak to our influencers about the Soft Surroundings brand and how they work with influencers like me for collaborations. It was so wonderful to have a marketing executive spend time getting to know us better as women who wear their clothes.
My session was on Social media and how we need to understand our analytics, when to post, and how to create great content for engagement with our followers. In case you missed my session on social media I will be speaking again at the 2020 Influencers of Midlife Summit.
We went to Soft Surroundings for prosecco and macaroons while Nina Bandoni interviewed Jessica Connick, a marketing executive from Soft Surroundings about how we work with Soft Surroundings as influencers. Nina gave her thoughts on how she works with brands like Soft Surroundings. She always sends her media kit and other pertinent information when a brand reaches out to her for a collaboration.
Do you have a media kit? Do you know how to say no when a brand reaches out to you that isn’t a good fit? Do you know how to reach out to the marketing department of a company you want to work with?
Guess what? We’re having a workshop on collaborations, contracts, and media kits next year! So much goodness is going on getting the event ready for 2020!
Here’s one big take away that brands don’t like when you do a collaboration with them. If they are paying for you to work with them do not add a shopping link with clothes from their competitors. I have seen many bloggers doing collaborations and add a “Shop my Look” with clothes similar to what they’re wearing but from another store. No no, sweetie. Don’t expect to be asked to do another collaboration with that brand. They are gifting you or paying you and want exclusivity on your social media and blog posts. They see a lot of foul play with bloggers linking the “Like to Know it” loaded with competitor’s clothing.
Jessica is the most delightful marketing executive and we really enjoyed meeting her. She makes my relationship with Soft Surroundings so easy and enjoyable. All the women really enjoyed gettig to know her over the weekend.
The Outfit
I love bright colors and fell in the with this yellow reversible puffer jacket. Perfect for winter while looking ahead to spring. The stripes in the tunic work very well with the floral print. I am wearing white pants but this would also look good with jeans for a super casual style.

I love this look Robin and I’d love to try Soft Surroundings. We don’t have one in our area yet. Great advice on the collabs. I wondered about that as I have seen it done on a few blogs and thought I’d not really like that if I was the brand! I sure hope I can make it to the conference next year. Do you have dates yet?

I think you would really enjoy shopping at Soft Surroundings.
It has a very Florida vibe for being based in St. Louis.
I am still looking at other hotels in January but the Avalon ( which was the inaugural event) is only available on the last weekend of January (Super Bowl weekend) which is extremely beautiful and the rooms are lower priced than the hotels in downtown Atlanta.
I will announce the new date and hotel once the other hotels send me proposals! Slow as molasses!
