What Happens to Our Hair After 50
This is a sponsored post with Hair Biology, however, all opinions are my own.
Ladies, you know our hair changes after 50 so why shouldn’t our hair products change with us? I am still wearing my hair blonde and long and I don’t let society dictate how I should wear my hair or what color it should be. Our confidence and spirit doesn’t stop as we get older and neither should having beautiful hair after 50.
What Happens to Our Hair After 50
As our hormones fluctuate and eventually disappear, everything from our hairās thickness to its moisture levels can vary. Our hair may become much thinner, lighter, and will eventually turn grey because our hair follicles produce less melanin.Ā Ā Our hair health is determined by how we take care of it after 50. We need to nourish it with hydrating products and avoid products that strip our hair of natural oils.
I have been using Hair Biology, a new hair care product that just launched this month in the US. It’s available exclusively at Target online and in select stores nationwide. Hair Biology believes we’re bolder, not older, and created products designed to work with our unique hair biology.
Hair Biology Soft & Hydrated Collection
Because my hair is dry and damaged from years of coloring it, I use the Soft & Hydrated Collection from Hair Biology as well as the Argan Oil Taming Serum for my hair.
The Soft & Hydrated collection includes a moisturizing shampoo, conditioner, and a deeply hydrating hair mask that together cleanses, hydrates, nourishes, and brings back shine to my dry, damaged, hair.
The products are infused with Biotin, which is known to improve the body’s keratin infrastructure and support strong healthy hair growth. These Hair Biology collections are also free of parabens and dyes!
I shampoo and condition my hair every other day because it’s not as oily as it once was. Once a week I apply Deep Hydration Mask instead of using the conditioner. It makes my hair so soft and silky! For those of you ladies who have dry and damaged hair you will love the Deep Hydration Mask!
After I shampoo and condition my hair I use the Argan Oil Taming Serum before I blow dry my hair. My hair has become so frizzy as I’ve gotten older and I wanted a product to smooth my ends and soften my hair. This hair smoothing serum containsĀ Argan Oil, which is packed with antioxidants that are known to restore shine and vibrancy to our hair!
I apply a small amount to my damp hair from the middle to the ends, then I blow dry or just let my hair dry naturally.
If I don’t get to the hair salon soon I may have to switch to the Silver & Glowing Collection from Hair Biology! But I am so happy I have options if I ever do decide to embrace the greys fully!
Hair Biology Products
Our hair changes as we get older, and now our products have as well! We can have a great hair day every day if we use the right products to help combat the challenges of aging hair. Hair Biology has a line for each and every one of us!
- Soft & Hydrated Collectionā For dry, dull, damaged or brittle hair
- Silver & Glowing Collection ā For grey/silver hair
- Full & Vibrant Collection ā For fine, thin, or flat hair
I even took the collection with me to the beach. The sun, wind, and chlorine can really dry out my hair and I want my hair to feel silky smooth wherever I am!
Thank you Hair Biology for creating hair care products that help us to have great hair every day!
These products sound great! I’ve noticed that my hair is dryer than it used to be. I stopped using straighteners just over a year ago after badly damaging my hair with them. Thanks for linking up, hope you have a great weekend!

This is great hair care information, Robin. I have done so much color and heat damage to my hair over the years, but I have finally transitioned to washing my hair every 4th day without it being terribly greasy. Although Day 4 usually requires braids and a hat! But it did take a while for the oils to adjust for me to go so long without washing. It really makes life so much easier as well and limits heat exposure compared to when I washed it every day or every other day and then used a hair dryer and straightener on it. Thanks for sharing your fave products and linking up.

My hair started to get dry and frizzy 8 years ago and I am so happy a company has made a hair care line addressing our hair after 50!
I hope you do try the collection!

Robin,
I am definitely going to add these products to my hair care routine!
My hairdresser recommends alternating between products to prevent product build up.
I too shampoo every couple of days to give my longer hair lift .
Thanks for the heads up!

Rosemary,
That is great advice from your hairdresser!
I had heard of switching products to prevent build up.
I tend to wash my hair more in the summer because of sweating on the golf course and swimming.
Have a great weekend!
Robin
I like that these products do not have Parabens and dyes! I have been working on keeping my hair healthy. It has always been very fine and straight. Biotin helps too!
Yes, Biotin helps our hair, nails, and is an important B vitamin for women over 50!
I am so happy that Hair Biology has included this important vitamin to address our hair over 50!
Hugs,
Robin
I like that these products have biotin and are free of Parabens and dyes!šš» Iāve been working on taking care of my thin and flat hair. It has always been fine – so jealous of yours and others long and thick hair!
Marjie,
You should try the Full & Vibrant Collection from Hair Biology.
I was going to try that one first but decided after years of coloring my hair I decided I needed more help in the dryness department!
Hugs,
Robin
These products sound amazing and your hair looks so healthy Robin.
Thank you Emily!
I have become very aware of the products I use for my skin and my hair as I have gotten older.
Having my hair healthy and feel soft is so important to me.
You have beautiful hair and I hope you try Hair Biology!
Hugs,
Robin
These sound like really great products. It took me awhile to find out that my hair’s dryness was from aging. It really is important to understand that our hair needs special attention as we age too.
That is so true Nancy!
My hair needs less washing because it’s drier now with less oiliness than when I was younger.
I am so happy hair care lines like Hair Biology are realizing that as we get older our hair changes too!
Hugs,
Robin
