Wellness over 60: Why I Chose GLP-1 and NAD+ Therapy

Why I Chose a New Wellness Approach
At this stage of life, I’ve learned that health isn’t about chasing trends—it’s about listening, evolving, and making thoughtful choices that support how you want to feel every single day.
Turning 70 in December made me really pause and think about how I want to feel in this next chapter—and it inspired me to truly invest in myself.
Recently, I visited LumiVita, marking the beginning of a new chapter in my wellness journey. Not because something was “wrong,” but because I wanted to feel even better—more energized, more focused, and more like myself.
This decision has nothing to do with weight loss.
Instead, it’s about longevity, vitality, and supporting my body in a smarter, more intentional way.
This post is in collaboration with LumiVita Wellness Spa.
A Shift in Mindset Around Aging

For years, I’ve taken a balanced approach to health—staying active, eating well, and embracing life fully. But as we age, our bodies change. Energy fluctuates. Recovery takes longer. And sometimes, despite doing “all the right things,” you still don’t feel quite optimal.

For me, another important factor is maintaining healthy blood pressure. It’s one of those quiet markers of overall wellness that becomes more important with time—and something I want to stay ahead of, not react to later.

That’s what led me to explore additional support.
Benefits of Low-Dose GLP-1 Beyond Weight Loss
There’s a lot of conversation around GLP-1 medications right now, often centered on weight loss. But that’s only part of the story—and not my reason.
At a low dose, GLP-1 can support metabolic health, regulate blood sugar, and may contribute to improvements in cardiovascular markers such as blood pressure. I am taking tirzepatide, not semaglutide, because it has fewer side effects, and I’m not using it mainly for weight loss. It’s for my heart health since I have high blood pressure.
For me, it’s about creating internal balance—helping my body function more efficiently, not shrinking it.
It’s subtle. It’s supportive. And it aligns with my goal of feeling steady, not extreme.
How NAD+ Supports Energy, Sleep, and Brain Health
If GLP-1 supports balance, NAD+ is about cellular energy.
NAD+ is a coenzyme that naturally declines as we age, and it plays a key role in how our cells produce energy and repair themselves.
For me, that includes helping with brain fog—feeling clearer, more focused, and sharper. It also supports better sleep, which becomes more valuable (and sometimes more elusive) over time.
I’m also excited about its role in skin health, supporting a healthy glow from within, as well as its connection to heart health and overall cellular function.
This isn’t a quick fix—it’s a foundational approach to feeling better from the inside out.
Prioritizing Blood Pressure and Heart Health
This journey isn’t just about energy—it’s also about protecting my long-term health.
Supporting healthy blood pressure and heart health is a priority for me, and I see this as part of a proactive approach to aging well.
It’s about feeling good now while also investing in the years ahead.
More Than Wellness: Spa and Aesthetic Services at LumiVita

Another thing I loved about LumiVita Wellness Spa in Buckhead is that it’s not just about internal wellness.

If you’re looking for more traditional self-care, they also offer massages, facials, and advanced skin treatments. I enjoyed a little Botox refresh while I was there—because feeling good and looking refreshed can go hand in hand. On my next trip to LumiVita, I’m going to try the red light therapy- full body session and have a body scan. They offer memberships, and I’m on the Thrive membership.

Aging Well on My Own Terms
I think it’s important to say this clearly: this journey isn’t about changing how I look.
It’s about how I feel when I wake up in the morning.
It’s about having the energy to travel, to create, to show up fully in my life.
It’s about supporting long-term health so I can keep doing all of those things for years to come.
There’s something empowering about choosing to be proactive.
Not reactive. Not chasing youth. But supporting your body with intention and care.
This is what that looks like for me right now—and it feels like a step in the right direction.
Join me later as I share my thoughts about taking Tirzepatide and NAD+ in about 6 months.
