Valentine’s Day Dinner at Home in Style

Ladies, have you made plans for Valentine’s Day dinner yet? This year we’re staying home, but that doesn’t mean I won’t get dressed up for Valentine’s Day.

Set Your Table with Flowers and Candles

Whether or not your partner brings you roses, make sure your table is set for a romantic dinner. I love getting (or buying) roses for my table. Roses last over a week if you know how to keep them alive longer.

Add candles to your table to set the mood. I love candle votives sprinkled around on the table.

Don’t Forget the Wine!

Because I’m serving filet mignon for dinner, we will drink a good bottle of Pinot Noir. Typically, red wine doesn’t work with lobster. There’s too much contrast, and the rich tannins and bold flavors can be overpowering. However, a few types of lighter red wine, like Pinot Noir, work well with steak and lobster.

You don’t need to spend a lot of money on great-tasting wine.

Simple Menu

Don’t spend a lot of time in the kitchen on Valentine’s Day. Serving filet mignon and lobster is one of the most uncomplicated menus I know. We only eat lobster on special occasions, and it’s so easy to make.

I will make a salad, baked potatoes, and grilled asparagus to complete the meal.

Since I’m trying to stay out of the kitchen, I think we’ll have chocolate truffles for dessert! You can make truffles ahead of time or purchase them. Truffles are so easy to make and so delicious!

If you don’t feel like cooking, get takeout from your favorite restaurant!
