Travel Along with Hilda
Are you like me when it comes to reading blog posts about travel? I enjoy reading about cities and countries I haven’t traveled to and live vicariously through many women I follow. I have a fierce 50 sister who lives in Ireland and today we will travelΒ along with Hilda.Β
Hilda Smith and I are part of the originalΒ fierce 50 and I have been following her blog, Over the Hilda for the last 2 years.Β Β I also follow Hilda on Instagram too.
Hilda’sΒ blog is designed to share with others her journey into the next middle age, by using her own experiences and so hopefully pass on some useful tips, advice or just random thoughts on the challenges facing the older woman.
Hilda is a retired teacher who now travels with her husband, GG (as inΒ GorgeousΒ Graham) to places I have never been to but plan to visit someday. She sharesΒ her travels throughout EuropeΒ and in Ireland. I love reading about places I have never been to and someday plan to visit.
She just returned from a trip to Salamanca as an invited guest of an onlineΒ travel agency. I want a travel agency to invite me to tag along too! How fun is that!
Salamanca is part of the UNESCO World Heritage list of destinations I want to explore while I still can.
The plaza is very similar to the Piazza San Marco in Venice, Italy. Another blog post in the future!
I get a kick out of bloggers who get excited about photographing their bathrooms when they travel. Hilda was staying in a luxury hotel courtesy of the travel department and shot this photo.
You will always see me taking photos of bathroomsΒ for my travel posts too because I’m an interior designer who loves a beautiful bathroom or two. I enjoy seeing how European bathrooms differ than ourΒ large spacious spa type bathrooms.Β Here I am taking a bathroom selfie in Amsterdam at the Marriott I was staying in before my trip on theΒ Rhine river cruise in the fall of 2016.
Hilda’s bathroom in Salamanca reminded me of the bathroom we had in Paris at the JW Marriott. I still have to post more on my Paris trip!
I enjoyed learning about her recent trip to Spain. My husband and I are planning a trip next year so I will ask Hilda her recommendations on Barcelona but Salamanca and Alba de Torres in the province of Salamanca look like 2 cities I would also like to explore in Spain.

Hilda hasΒ also traveled to Provence in France, another place I want to travel to with my husband.
I love reading Hilda’s travel posts in Ireland becauseΒ I have never been to Ireland and that is on our bucket list too!
I enjoy her travel posts as well as her fashionΒ posts. I enjoy seeing what European women wear compared to what I wear. I think Hilda looksΒ fabulous, don’t you?
Well, I am lookingΒ forward to my next bucketΒ list travel and I know I will be contacting Hilda for some recommendationsΒ when we plan our trip to Spain in 2019!
