Stepping into Spring with Soft Surroundings

What a great day to welcome spring my friends! The sun is finally out and hopefully we will be warming up in Atlanta! This has been a very cold winter and I know my friends on the east coast are waiting for another snow storm today. Winter is now officially over! Hello Spring!

I have been waiting for the weather to warm up in Atlanta so that I can wear my bright happy colors again!

Winter fashion is more muted colors and spring fashion is all about renewal and rebirth of the brightly colored fashion. How wonderful I can finally share with you this fabulous bright colored paisley tunic from Soft Surroundings!

I love happy bright colors and I feel that they truly represent my personality. Yes, I am a red personality, but I am also a happy person who wears bright colors.

This paisley tunic top is sheer but it comes with a white camisole. I pulled out of my closet my white pants from last spring, pink layered necklace, orange and red tassel earrings also from last spring. I wore red heels and my red bag for a pop of red.

The Photo Shoot

Yesterday I had to do a photo shoot for an upcoming issue for Modern Luxury Interiors- Atlanta and I knew I needed bright colors to stand out against the neutral southern style that has become so popular with the millenials who follow Magnolia Home. I am an interior designer who embraces color and I need to show the Atlantans that white isn’t the only option.

Many of my clients wonder why they only see white and light interiors in the Atlanta magazines when color is so popular now. It’s because the editors of the magazines prefer a certain look and style for their magazines. I have young families who are still loving the farmhouse look started by Joanna and Chip Gaines on HGTV’s Fixer Upper. White kitchens are extremely popular in Atlanta and lately all my clients have been requesting white kitchens, farmhouse style.

White is very popular in the south, but it isn’t always a practical color when you have an active family with little people or pets. But it’s very soothing and calm.

Are you an only white personality?

Do you have a preference for dark interiors?

I chose 2 different rooms to shoot my profile photo and I want you to decide which one made me look better.

The monochromatic room vignette or the vignette with the dark navy wallpaper?

I will share with you the professionally shot photos later. These are behind the scene shots.

Call me silly, but I am standing out in the middle of this street because I love trees in bloom announcing that spring has arrived. Don’t you just love how nature gives birth every spring?

Hi ho hi ho, it’s off to work I go!!

    1. Happy Easter jess!

Yes, the photoshoot was a lot of fun and the magazine will be coming out shortly.
I will post the photo on Instagram once the magazine goes to market.

Yes, white kitchen are all the rage but watch more white kitchens to get darker with accent cabinets. Not just the islands but wall cabinets. Dark gray and white is very popular now.

      Hugs,
      Robin

  2. I love this tunic on You and also love lots of color in my wardrobe. But, a white kitchen has always been my fave.

    1. Thank you for your lovely comments!
Doesn’t bright colors make you feel happy?
I start wearing my bright colors once the weather warms up and the trees start to bloom.

It seems white kitchens have replaced the dark kitchens of the 90’s.

      Happy spring!
      Robin

      Marisa,

I think more people prefer the white, light, and monochromatic look that is trending in interiors . Light interiors appear bigger and happier than dark interiors.
      Thank you for your comments!

  4. Beautiful photos and I adore your outfit! It’s so perfect for spring. I love white but get bored with it fast. Plus with dogs and snow and the great outdoors it’s not practical. In my mountain home I have rich earthy colors and wonder if they are looking dated. I would adore a white farm style kitchen but not sure I could fit it in with the rest of my decor. I will be updating my kitchen this spring and can’t wait!
