Mad About Pink + Plaid and My Stracciatella with Tortellini Soup
Happy Sunday my friends! What a busy week I have had supporting breast cancer awareness at my country club by wearing pink on and off the golf course. I’m wearing pink and plaid pants today that are from my closet. Also, since the weather has gotten cooler I am making stracciatella with tortellini soup for today’s dinner. My Sundays are very relaxing and the soup takes less than 30 minutes to make!
Have you been supporting breast cancer awareness this month? On Wednesday and Thursday, I spent the day golfing for a breast cancer charity in Georgia. These pink ribbon face masks were made by a dear friend of mine who was in my foursome. Aren’t they great!
Pink + Plaid Style
I first wore the black plaid wide-leg cropped pants with another pink blouse both fromJ.Jill two years ago but I switched up my top to a blush pink that looks softer and more feminine. I always look in my closet to see what I can wear again or fall. Paid is trending again this year so I don’t need to shop as much as usual.

I truly don’t think any woman can look bad in pink! It’s a universally safe color for women even if you’re a redhead!
Stracciatella with Tortellini Soup
The word stracciatella means “torn apart” and has a few different meanings when it comes to food. It can mean an egg drop soup. Here you heat soup to a rapid boil and then pour the egg in and whisk as fast as you can while the egg makes sheds of egg string. This stracciatella soup is made with tortellini. I have seen recipes where tiny meatballs are added too.
Ingredients
- 8 cups of chicken stock or broth, (I use half and half or you can just use chicken broth)
- One 20 ounce package Giovanni Rana 5 Cheese Tortellini (or use your favorite tortellini)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons chopped flat-leaf Italinqa parsley
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves
- 1 cup lightly packed spinach leaves, cut into thin strips or 1 pkg of frozen leaf spinach
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- Grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese
Directions
- Bring the broth to a boil in a large saucepan or soup pot over medium-high heat.
- Add the tortellini, garlic powder, parsley, basil, and spinach. Cook following the cooking time for your tortellini.
- In a bowl, whisk the eggs. Reduce the heat to medium-low. Stir the broth in a circular motion. Gradually drizzle the egg mixture into the moving broth, stirring gently with a fork to form thin strands of egg, about 1 minute.
- Season the soup, to taste, with salt and pepper.
- Serve with Grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese

Your outfit is really pretty! You wear it well. I lost my mom to Breast Cancer – all during October I wear pink – at least one part of my outfit is pink, either the top, blouse – or pants, skirt – whatever. It’s just my little “thing” I’ve done for quite a few years now…

Yes, stracciatella is also gelato with chocolate flakes.
