Wellness Wednesday: Healthy 4th of July Party
Ladies, I thought it would be fun this week for Wellness Wednesday to share with you my favorite healthy recipes I use for my 4th of July parties. We are all familiar with the mayonnaise-based salads served at picnics and grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, but what if we change it up a bit and make our 4th of July party healthy?
Nina and I decided that this week we would challenge ourselves to create a healthy 4th of July menu. My recipe is pretty simple except I added a couple of side dishes that are not typically served at a bbq party.
My table was set in the patriotic red white and blue theme. The plates were gifted to me from Chico’s this spring from their Home and Gift Collection that you have seen in a previous post. I added the red square salad bowls, my red Christmas candles ( always reuse what you have!) table decorations from the Dollar store, and my flowers were from Kroger. I put the silverware and napkin in the mason jar as a clever way of setting my table. I host all my summer parties outdoors on my terraces. The ceiling fans keep the summer heat from being unbearable.
I have decided to serve cauliflower vegetable pizza, vegan beet sliders, grilled chicken, and salmon this year as well as a green salad, corn on the cob, and grilled vegetables.
All my recipes can be found on Pinterest and I will start putting a board together of healthy recipes you share with me on Wellness Wednesdays.
I actually enjoy a cauliflower pizza crust and you will love this recipe! I add all kinds of vegetables that I have handy. The recipe is really great with all the summer vegetables but I tend to enjoy butternut squash on my cauliflower crust pizza.
I serve the beet sliders without the bun but this is the recipe I used from the naked label.
This is a fantastic grilled chicken recipe.
Try this grilled salmon recipe for your 4th of July party.
Hosting a party isn’t about the food its about the conversation you have around the dinner table. You can have all store bought food and still have a successful party. I am watching my salt and sugars so I prefer to make everything from scratch except my angel food cake trifle. The cake comes from the box, but it’s so wonderful with berries and whipped cream.
For dessert, I am going to serve an angel food fruit trifle which is healthy and a crowd favorite. This says red, white, and blue and it’s so good for you too!
I use real whip cream to control the sugar and don’t use tapioca pudding. It’s not necessary.
I hope you are spending the 4th with family or friends and will try my healthy recipes.
How about starting the 4th of July with a healthy pancake recipe? My fierce 50 sister from down under (Australia) Wendy Hodge has a wonderful pancake recipe to share with you.
I think the pancakes look delicious and are soooo good for you!
I hope you have a wonderful menu planned for your 4th of July party!

Shelbee,
Thank you sweetie!
Yes the beet sliders are really good and I use them as a vegetable side dish with the aioli sauce. The sauce really makes the sliders a perfect companion to chicken and salmon.

Robin
