Finding Things to Do While Staying at Home
Many of us are staying at home and practicing social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic but what can we do while staying at home?
This is a sponsored post with Peach, however, all opinions are my own.
Social distancing will be our new normal for the next few weeks along with working from home. Keeping some normality in our personal lives will be so important in the weeks to come to prevent isolation and depression.
The world as we know it has changed quickly in a matter of weeks.
So many of us have had to cancel trips because of the outbreak. Conferences, vacations, and life as we know it has come to a screeching halt. I had to cancel the Influencers of Midlife Summit which was supposed to happen this weekend. So quickly has this pandemic taken over our daily routine. But staying at home and practicing social distancing is our best line of defense of protecting ourselves and our loved ones during this uncertainty.
Facetime or Zoom Calls with Family and Friends
If you live far away or you just want to keep your distance from your family now is the best time to make the effort to keep in contact with them to see how they’re doing with FaceTime or a phone call. Especially our elderly parents need to feel loved when we can’t be near them. Being at home is new to many of our active parents. My mother misses going to church, exercising at her YMCA, and her daily coffee group. She isn’t used to sitting at home.
So many people are scheduling virtual Zoom parties with their friends and families. I may do that for Easter if this shutdown continues into April. I have been chatting with my Instagram friends in group chats through Instagram making sure everyone is staying safe and feeling positive as we stay connected while keeping our distance.
We have daily Facetime with our son, daughter in law, and our Livie Lee because we miss them terribly but want to keep them safe. Jenn is pregnant with our second granddaughter in May and avoiding contact with anyone since this virus is new to doctors. When we’re not Facetiming with the kids, Jenn sends us sweet little videos for us to enjoy every day. For instance, we got this sweet video of little Livie sharing a PBJ kiss with my son that I also sent to my parents to enjoy.
Keep Exercising While at Home
It’s spring, now is the time to enjoy the flowers and the blossoms of the tree! Go outside and take a walk to make you feel better. I recently wrote about the health benefits of walking on this post.
If you’re missing your group exercise class check out some online classes or perhaps your fitness class has a Zoom fitness class you can take.
Binge-watch Your Favorite Television or Movies
Okay, who’s ready to binge-watch Grace and Frankie with me on Netflix? I love this show and love Jane Fonda and LilyTomlinas the lead actors. This show has been on since 2015 and when I need a smile, I will watch the show over and over again. I prefer shows with female leads over the age of 50 or movies with women of a certain age. My Favorite is the Book Club. I even hosted a party when the Book Club came to DVD. What’s your favorite show to binge-watch?
Play Games With Your Family or Alone
Playing games with your family or partner will be a wonderful way to find laughter and keep you happy while staying at home. Creating a game night might be a new tradition for your family. We have a pool table and shuffleboard in our basement that gets used a lot when we have company over. Now they’re just used by my husband and myself.
Visit Rooms Revamped Interior Design to see more of my basement.
I can still practice and work on my skill at billiards while staying home. And an added benefit of playing pool is more steps! You are walking around the pool table playing pool!
We enjoy card games and dice games like Yahtzee. I bet many of you enjoy doing crossword puzzles or puzzles as a way of entertaining yourselves at home.
Read a Good Book or Keep a Journal
We have time on our hands now to read books, keep a journal, or write blogs like I do to share with you. Write down your thoughts, make a list of things you need to get done and write every day. Journaling does more than just help you record your memories or find self-expression. It’s good for your health. Read more about the health benefits of journaling.
Be creative with your time and limit watching the news. Listen to the news but don’t LISTEN to it all day. It’s only going to get worse before it can get better.

Stay at Home Fashion
I think all of us are living in athletic wear while we’re staying at home during the pandemic. It’s so comfortable to wear around the house while cleaning, watching television, reading, and working out. And most importantly, you never have to change your clothes! It’s not my preferred outfit to wear in public, but it’s my favorite for staying at home. I bet you’re wearing either a jogging outfit or some type of athletic wear while reading this blog post!
The Rosa Pullover is a chic sweatshirt that features stylish, high side slits which can be perfectly paired with white jeans when your looking for a casual style later. It only comes in indigo blue. For now, I’m wearing these fabulous tie-dyed reversible capris from Peach. The other side is navy so you get 2 for the price of 1!

Hugs,
Love, love, love those leggings Robin. Such pretty colors. We’ve been under full lock down here in South Africa since last week and it’s a bit weird. I’m used to working from home so it’s no biggie, but I do miss being able to visit my Mom on the weekends and taking the dogs for a walk. It’s not really allowed here. Stay safe <3
Great tips, Robin. Just adore that video of Livvie…she’s just precious. Take care, my friend <3
Hugs, Melanie
So many great ideas, Robin! And I love your attitude. I am finding all sorts of things to do while at home. But I am always at home so this is nothing new to me. I love your adorable leggings outfit and your home is absolutely gorgeous. I am typing this comment from my front porch wearing leggings, a sweater, and my bath robe! This is my kind of living. Thanks for linking up!

Looks like you’re keeping pretty busy! I know that I am just as busy as ever!
Hi Robin,
I’ve done all of the above except playing billiards. Mostly I’ve been cooking during this quarantine time. In fact I think I’ve set a record cooking dinner this many nights in a row! Just praying we can get through this soon.
My Best,
Nancy
Wonderful ideas and I love your house. I work from home so I am kind of used to being solo, but not for so long, all for the good of humanity.
Thank you Loren.
I work from home as a blogger and interior designer but to not golf on Wednesdays or go to my gym classes has been my only sacrifice.
Otherwise my daily routine is the same too.
Stay safe!
Robin
I pretty much dress the same as before but have been wearing more sneakers since we have been outdoors exercising more. Grateful for a nice neighborhood where we can do that.

Yes, I’ve been spending lots of time outdoors on days that it’s not raining.
I love to garden and I’m clearing out my gardens getting them ready for planting flowers.
We also have a wonderful neighborhood and everyone is out walking a lot which is wonderful to see!
Hugs,
Robin
It may sound strange but this pandemic is actually bringing us closer to ourselves, to our family and friends, to nature and to simplifying. We have to stay at home, at least here in France, we can’t socialise, we have the chance and time to communicate more end better with friends and family and we can do our ‘intended’ projects. I am doing that and the more I do the more motivated I get. As always I am trying to make the most out of a situation. What else can you do?
Marijke,
Yes, it’s the best idea to make the lemonade from lemons!
We can’t control the pandemic but we can control our daily lives staying at home.
Hugs,
Robin
Yes good tips! I am not bored at all. But I miss my friends and family already! But we call each other much more now! Stay safe my friend!
Nancy,
I agree that I’m not bored but I miss seeing my children who live nearby.
We doing social distancing for our daughter Sammy who has asthma and our daughter in law who is pregnant.
Lots of phone calls and daily Face Time with the children.
You stay well too my friend!
Robin
Some great ideas for those stuck at home! I’m trying to do more reading and experiment with some new recipes here.
Thank you Janet!
I’ve doing a lot of spring cleaning which is usually what I do every spring but I find I have all day to clean!
Stay safe!
Robin
