Chic Style for Valentine’s Day at Home
Ladies, are you planning on staying at home for Valentine’s Day? This will be the first time we’re going to be celebrating at home instead of having dinner out. It seems we have celebrated every holiday, birthday, and anniversary at home since the pandemic changed our lives in March 2020.
Valentine’s Day is not a big “to do” with me. I love receiving (buying myself ) flowers and eating at a top-rated (read expensive) restaurant on Valentine’s Day. Having someone else cook for me is always a treat! This year’s dinner will be at Chez Moi. But just as I do for every holiday, I will still get dressed up. This year it will be a bit chicer casual.
Valentine’s Day Table Setting
Every holiday deserves a table set with your finest china and pretty flowers. My dining room table is set even though no one will be sitting there. I have an open floor plan and when you enter my home you see our dining room. I am one of those goofy women who set her dining room table ALL THE TIME!
Since no one will be eating at the table, I add lots of flowers( fake and real) and candles to make a pretty Valentine’s day tablescape.
Orchids Cheat Tip
Do you love to grow orchids as I do? I have many plants that are starting to sprout new blossoms but I hate looking at a bunch of stems in my home! So I cheat with fake orchid stems!
Take a look!
I set my table using plates I purchased from Home Goods, salad plates I got at an estate sale along with my Waterford glasses. The table linens came from Amazon. I placed the linen placemats vertically underneath the linen table runner.
Simple Valentine’s Day Menu
Since I will be doing the cooking I am going to make the menu simple but delicious.
- Filet Mignon in a Red Wine Mushroom sauce
- Baked Potato
- Simple Salad
- Cheesecake

Shop My Outfit
Today I posted a cute 15-second video with Bruno and me enjoying our special Valentine’s Day together. So many of my followers are single and I think it’s important to celebrate with a 4 legged best buddy or celebrate Valentine’s Day alone doing something special for themselves.

Love your orchid hack! They are so difficult to grow so now I know I can cheat! Thank you for your permission!
Absolutely cheat Michele!
So many people throw them away without giving them a chance to bloom again!
Sigh… Love the tablescape! We did filet last weekend, so this Sunday is Bacon-Wrapped Scallops and dessert is Torta Caprese all’Arancia. Sides are as yet undetermined! It depends on what comes in our Misfits box and what looks good at the grocery store tomorrow… And the orchid hack? Genius! Enjoy your day and hugs to all!
Liz,
Your dinner sounds delicious! You should post your recipes!
I am glad you love the orchid hack!
Here I thought I was being so clever but apparently a lot of women who love orchids like I do have done this too! LOL!
Then I heard women throw their’s away not knowing that they rebloom!
I have 8 plants that now have fake stems!
Robin, I loved your orchid hack when I watched last week- genius! Your tablescape is gorgeous and as nice as it is to have dinner out, your meal sounds scrumptious! You scored some great pieces from Chico’s. Have a wonderful weekend my friend!

Kellyann,
I am glad you enjoyed my orchid hack! I can’t believe that some women throw them away when the blossoms are gone!
I hope I saved some orchids with this tip!
Yes, I have always shopped at Chico’s over the years and keep wearing their clothes year after year!
Have a wonderful weekend, sweet friend!
