Color Me : Complementary Colors in Fashion and Interior Design
A light bulb went off in my head this morning after I posted about wearing monochromatic colors and as an interior designer I am an expert in color theory so how about I share the blue and orange complementary color scheme I tend to favor so much. {Florida Gator mom}
Complementary Colors in Fashion
I call it complementary color scheme and many people refer to it as color blocking. Take 2 colors that are opposite of each other on the color wheel and go bold!

I wore this fabulous blue and orange poncho top from Chico’s with this fabulous Kate Spade necklace when doing my video for the Atlanta showhouse.
This blue boho chic dress and orange necklace were purchased while I was in Oregon for my family reunion.
Complementary Color Scheme for Interior Design
Want to go for high-contrast color? Use a complementary scheme — it includes hues that are directly across from each other on the wheel. For this client’s family room we are going with the blue/orange combo. Not a Gator family, an Auburn family!!
I selected the blue/ orange color scheme for the 2013 Christmas at Callanwolde Holiday house.
I felt the red/green traditional Christmas colors ( also complementary colors) would fight the elegant silk toile wallpaper.

I was featured in the 2015 June/July issue of Design NJ, but this living room is a perfect example of the blue/orange complementary color scheme by Patricia Turchyn Interiors in Little Silver.
Designer Vern Yip did this fabulous blue/orange family room next to my kitchen at the 2015 Atlanta Showhouse.

So next time you’re thinking of a new outfit or a new color scheme for one of your rooms, remember to go bold with a complementary color scheme!!
I purchased this outfit entirely at Chico’s. I hope you like it!
