Being Grateful This Thanksgiving: Finding Joy and Purpose at Midlife

Well, this has been an interesting two weeks trying to fix my website! It’s been very frustrating, and I’m already writing about Thanksgiving and Christmas fashion. Anyway, for this Thanksgiving, I’m embracing gratitude for the small, meaningful moments that make midlife beautiful. Join me as I reflect on what it means to be truly thankful at 50ish.
Being Grateful This Thanksgiving: Finding Joy and Purpose at Midlife
As Thanksgiving approaches, I always find myself slowing down—just a little—to soak in what this season is really about. Thanksgiving isn’t just a day of turkey and pie (though I’ll never say no to either). It’s a time to reflect on the people, the moments, and the lessons that have shaped my life—especially at this beautiful stage of being “50ish.”
For many women over 50, Thanksgiving becomes more than a holiday—it’s a reminder of how far we’ve come. Gratitude feels deeper now. It’s not just about milestones or achievements, but the quiet joys that fill our everyday lives—the warmth of a cozy home, coffee at sunrise, laughter with lifelong friends, and the peace that comes from knowing who we are and what truly matters.
This year, I’m especially grateful for growth—for the chance to keep learning, reinventing, and finding purpose in this next chapter of life. I’m thankful for family, for laughter that fills my home, and for the wisdom that comes from decades of living, loving, and letting go.
If there’s one thing midlife has taught me, it’s that gratitude changes everything. It shifts our focus from what’s missing to what’s here, right now. Gratitude makes life feel fuller, softer, and more beautiful—no matter our age or circumstances.
So this Thanksgiving, I’m not chasing perfection.
I’m choosing presence.
I’m choosing to embrace the imperfectly beautiful moments, to savor the messy and the meaningful, and to let gratitude be my guide.
Here’s to a Thanksgiving filled with warmth, reflection, and grace—and to finding joy in the life you’ve created.

My Thanksgiving Outfit

I wore this outfit on my Virgin Voyage cruise, and it’s perfect for Thanksgiving. Brown is so popular this fall, and I really like this taupe color for the Travelers™ Classic Side-Slit Tank
and the Travelers™ No Tummy Pants. I am wearing the Travelers™ Artisanal Chiffon Tunic, which you can take off when you’re cooking. My jewelry is the Copper Charm Bib Necklace, the Faux Pearl Drop Earrings, the Silver Bezel Set Stretch Tennis Bracelet, and a pearl bracelet stack from Chico’s last year. Can you believe I purchased another pair of Journee Tiarra Pump in brown? I also purchased them in ivory, too! Such a great price!
You will find my favorite recipes that I serve every year in this post!
Until next time! Hopefully next week! LOL!!
