Resort Packing Essential – The No-Iron Shirt

Ladies, are you headed on a beach vacation? Besides packing the basic essentials, like sunglasses, suntan lotion, and a swimsuit do you think about what clothes to bring? My favorite resort packing essential is packing no-iron shirts that won’t have me spending time inside ironing on vacation.

I am headed to Hilton Head next week for a change of view. I love spending time on the beach and have been planning on this vacation for a while.

Lots of personal drama has been going on since last Saturday when my Instagram account was hacked. Which I will share with you in the next blog post. It’s a wonderful story that doesn’t have an ending. Yet.

Why I love the No-Iron Shirt

I have a lot of Chico’s no-iron shirts in my closet.  You are either a fan of no-iron shirts or you dislike the stiffness of the shirt, among other things which I will also share with you.

I have been a fan of this collection since it was introduced. Many brands carry no-iron shirts like Talbots, another store I shop at. Chico’s just happens to have a larger selection of tunic tops that are no-iron. I rarely tuck a shirt in anymore.

What makes a shirt no-iron?

No-Iron shirts require little-to-no ironing compared to regular cotton shirts.  However, the fabric has been treated with a formaldehyde-based solution to achieve its wrinkle-free surface. The shirts are baked to fix the chemical solution into the fabric. The formaldehyde-based solution bonds cotton fibers together, minimizing how the fabric creases. This treatment can cause rashes if you have sensitive skin. Because many people aren’t aware that formaldehyde is in the solution I thought you should make an informed choice on no-iron shirts. These chemicals do not need to be listed on the tag due to their small percentage in the overall shirt. That is similar to the pesticides on your food, that does not mean that they are not there or creating negative effects on your health.

I actually air out my no-iron shirts when I get them home hoping that helps with the off-gassing from the chemicals. Sources also say to dry them outside just like my mother and grandmothers used to do! Mom loves to dry sheets outside for that fresh air scent!

Here are more tips to reduce the formaldehyde in no-iron shirts.

I will continue to wear no-iron shirts when I travel because I like being able to sit and not look rumpled. If properly washed and dried you never need to iron this shirt!

More No-Iron Shirts from Chico’s

I am wearing the no-iron stretch floral tunic over Chico’s no-stain white ankle jeans. A couple of years ago I wrote about the no-stain white shirt when it first was introduced.  For sizing purposes, I am wearing a size 1 in both. My cute little pink bow mules from Dressbarn no longer exist. I have linked a couple of pink mules for you at the end. Pink is so popular this spring!

Well ladies I’m back to Instagram to battle my hacker from Turkey. I know many of you will enjoy reading about my stupidity in reading an email from a fake Instagram email and clicking on the link that allowed the hacker to gain access to my Instagram account of over 67,800 followers. It’s a cautionary tale that can apply to everyone whether or not you have an Instagram or Facebook account. Phishing scams cause so much damage!

Thank you for stopping by today! I always look forward to your thoughts and comments!

  1. These phishing scams are everywhere and happen on the daily; we all need to be so diligent and these evil geniuses (why can’t they use their intelligence for good?) are so conniving it is easy to fall prey. My mother was practically scammed out of thousands of dollars by one shortly after my dad passed. Thank God we were able to intervene.
Anyway, glad you are headed to Hilton Head and hope you can relax, unwind, and enjoy! I am obsessed with these no iron shirts, I’d love to replace everything in my closet so I never need to iron again – ha!!! Wishful thinking!
    Enjoy my friend!

  2. I don’t think you were stupid with the hacker Robin. Gosh it’s something that could happen to all of us SO easily.
I’ve only just started being more conscious of the sustainability of our clothing. So I just learned about the chemicals in some of these pieces….like my no stain white jeans which I just adore. I’m not sure I’ll buy anymore, but it’s such a nice element.
