Alivia- A Fashion Brand With Special Artists
Today I am shining the light on a fashion brand that works with disabled adults as employees and artists. Alivia is a forward-thinking company that creates fashion from the art of people with disabilities.
There is no greater disability in society,
Than the inability to see a person as more. – Robert Hensel
God has given me two beautiful daughters born with extraordinary gifts. Lisa, the talented athlete, and Sammy, the daughter who lights up the room with her beautiful smile and heart. Yes, Sammy was born with Down Syndrome, but we never treated Sammy differently than her siblings.
We made sure she had the best education but I still had to advocate for her while she was growing up and as an adult. It takes time educating society that she has more ability than disability. But I know many mothers with disabled children are walking on this journey with me.
Alivia’s Story
While spending time volunteering, co-founders Jovana and Brandon experienced a vibrant world of people with differing abilities creating bold, expressive art inspired by their dreams and colorful imaginations.
Together, they’ve created a brand that would inspire with every stitch, giving conscious consumers the chance to connect with their clothes deeply.
Awareness, love, inclusion, voice, individuality, acceptance. This is Alivia’s constellation of human values that they sew into everything they create, from imaginative start to perfected finish.
Every Alivia collection begins by transforming the artwork of a creator with a disability into radiant prints and embroidery. By wearing Alivia, you’re amplifying their voices and talents.
Kevin’s Collection
I am wearing the Vanessa Dress. This wrap dress features a high-low maxi skirt with gathered tiers of mixed prints. It’s perfect for a summer event or wedding. We’re all wearing these outfits to a rehearsal dinner for my niece in June.
Lisa is wearing the Lila dress. A classic slip dress with an added asymmetric pleated panel layered over a flouncy ruffle hem. Featuring bold, expressive prints, this dress is designed to have a relaxed fit. I think Lisa looks splendid in the slip dress!
The Emily Tee
Sammy is wearing the Emily Tee shirt. Unfortunately, the dress I had selected for Sammy wasn’t available in a size small, so Alivia suggested this cute ruffled tee shirt. She just loved this top! Sammy can dress the top with a skirt or go casual with shorts.
How lucky I was to have this wonderful company reach out to me to do this collaboration. I love hearing about companies that work with special needs adults. So many disabled adults can be fantastic employees if given the chance. Sammy is so happy to be working at the Atlanta Country Club. They just love her there!
As you can see, Alivia has created beautiful clothes inspired by the artists who are accepted for their abilities, not their disabilities.
