Luxury Stay in Napa Valley: The Meritage Resort & Spa Review

If you’re planning a getaway to Napa Valley and want a resort experience that combines wine, wellness, and beautiful vineyard views, The Meritage Resort & Spa is the kind of destination where you can truly slow down and savor wine country. Nestled at the gateway to Napa Valley, the resort sits on 36 acres that include its own vineyard, tasting rooms, restaurants, and one of the most unique spas in California.
Whether you’re visiting for a romantic weekend, a girls’ trip, or simply a little self-care in wine country, here’s what makes a stay at The Meritage so special.
I recently had the opportunity to experience The Meritage Resort and Spa as an invited guest, along with four other influencers, for a curated Napa Valley getaway. The trip was designed to give us a true taste of the resort—from exploring the vineyard grounds and relaxing by the pool to enjoying the incredible spa and dining experiences on property. Traveling with a small group of creators made the experience even more special, as we shared the beauty of Napa together while discovering everything the resort had to offer. It was the perfect blend of work, creativity, and a little indulgence in wine country.
Wine Country Luxury in the Heart of Napa

The Meritage feels more like a wine country village than a traditional hotel. The Tuscan-inspired architecture, palm-lined walkways, and vineyard surroundings instantly set the tone for a relaxing Napa experience. This year, the Meritage Resort and Spa is celebrating its 20th anniversary! In celebration of their 20th anniversary, they invite you to enjoy exclusive savings on a quintessential Napa Valley escape—crafted to honor their legacy and all that’s still to come.

The property includes:
-
A private nine-acre vineyard

-
Multiple restaurants, bars, and wine tasting rooms
-
Walking paths through the vines
-
Fire pits and outdoor gathering spaces
-
Easy access to downtown Napa via shuttle service
One of my favorite parts of staying here is that you don’t actually need to leave the resort to experience wine country. You can spend an entire day moving from coffee to wine tasting, to the pool, to dinner — all without getting in a car.
The Most Unique Spa Experience in Napa

The crown jewel of the resort is Spa Terra, an underground spa located inside a massive wine cave beneath the vineyard.
Yes — a spa inside a cave.
The experience is incredibly serene, with stone walls, soft lighting, and natural textures that create a peaceful atmosphere unlike any traditional spa. Spa Terra offers a full menu of treatments, including massages, facials, body wraps, and couples experiences. I had the amazing Dr.Babor Prescription Facial, which rejuvenated my skin!
Guests can also enjoy:
-
Steam grottos
-
Whirlpool baths
-
Relaxation lounges
-
Vineyard-inspired treatments using local ingredients like grape seed oil
It’s easily one of the most memorable spa experiences in Napa.
Pools, Dining, and Wine Tastings
When you stay at The Meritage Resort and Spa, the dining is part of the entire Napa experience.

Start with a relaxed wine country picnic lunch among the vineyards, enjoy incredible Italian flavors at Olive & Hay, and don’t miss dinner at Ember Steak, where perfectly prepared steaks and an elevated atmosphere make it a true Napa night out.
A farm-to-table story that begins with the journey of each ingredient, Olive & Hay intertwines modern and classic elements for a wine-country approach to casual Italian cuisine.
Olive & Hay is open from 7:00 am until 9:00 pm.

I had the amazing Vineyard Hash for breakfast.

Save room for Linguine Cioppino!

Ember Steak is Napa’s premier steakhouse, serving dry-aged beef and local produce and blending rustic charm with elegance.

I had the Filet Mignon for dinner, and it was so delicious!

We shared the Wagyu Tomahawk Ribeye at the table. INCREDIBLE!

Then they served the Seafood Tower and Lobster Bisque!

The 24K Bite is part of the Golden Menu Challenge, celebrating the Resort’s 20 years!

One of the highlights of our stay was a private tasting at Sora Napa — incredible sushi paired with Napa wines and beautiful views. And if you’re looking for something more relaxed and fun later in the evening, Crush Lounge is the perfect spot for cocktails, bites, and even a little bowling.

Look at all the incredible bites we had at the Sora Tasting Room!

Let’s just say… You could stay here for days and never run out of delicious things to try.
Guests can also enjoy:
- Wine tasting rooms featuring local wineries
-
Poolside cocktails and casual bites
-
Outdoor fire pits are perfect for a glass of Cabernet at sunset
For something a little unexpected, the resort even has Crush Lounge, a stylish bar with bowling lanes and craft cocktails — perfect for a fun evening after dinner.

Don’t Miss the Napa Valley Wine Train

No trip to Napa Valley feels complete without experiencing the iconic Napa Valley Wine Train. Just a short drive from The Meritage Resort and Spa, this beautifully restored vintage train offers one of the most memorable ways to explore wine country. Guests travel through rolling vineyards aboard elegant 1915 Pullman railcars while enjoying a multi-course gourmet meal and curated Napa wines. It’s part culinary experience, part scenic tour, and part step back in time. Watching the vineyards pass by from the train’s glass windows is pure Napa magic—and it’s an unforgettable addition to any wine country itinerary. The food was AMAZING!

Why I Loved Staying Here

What makes The Meritage special is that it blends luxury resort amenities with the relaxed charm of wine country. It’s the kind of place where you can wake up to vineyard views, spend the afternoon at a spa in a wine cave, and end the day with a glass of Napa red under the stars.
And honestly… that’s exactly the kind of Napa getaway I’ll always say yes to.
Next up, I will share what I wore in Napa!
Until next time!
