I have done so much color and heat damage to my hair over the years, but I have finally transitioned to washing my hair every 4th day without it being terribly greasy. Although Day 4 usually requires braids and a hat! But it did take a while for the oils to adjust for me to go so long without washing. It really makes life so much easier as well and limits heat exposure compared to when I washed it every day or every other day and then used a hair dryer and straightener on it. That is great advice from your hairdresser!
I had heard of switching products to prevent build up.
I tend to wash my hair more in the summer because of sweating on the golf course and swimming.
