Thank you for sharing your journey with your mom Amy.
I know that you have a lot on your plate but I'm glad you liked my ideas.

Hi Robin,
Great share and ideas. I'm learning all kinds of new things at this season in life because it radically changes as we age. I lost my father last summer, and I had had so many precious and priceless conversations with him about those things you think about in that season. He knew that I would bring Mom to live with us (and the pets too!) and that brought him great peace. So now Mom has been with us almost a year. She will be 93 this summer. I'm learning and determined to make each day truly wonderful for all of us here in the house. I'm a rookie but we are doing it. The biggest blessing is that her health is really pretty good. I was thinking of using your ideas with one of my sons who lives quite a distance and my mom really is not up to travel that takes us overnight. At least we haven't tried it yet. Right now a routine and staying close to what she knows is a very good plan for us. I like that idea of scheduling some face time. I think it could really rejuvenate our relationship. Right now he prefers texting me. A FaceTime would really be so lovely.

You girls are adorable. I certainly see where you get your good looks, Robin!! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Beautiful.

I used to call my mom a lot on my walks or on my way somewhere in the car. She has been gone 9 months now, and I still panic when I think I have forgotten to call her. I still reach for the phone and think "I need to tell Mom that!!"

We bought a device called ViewClix for my mother because she was unable to use a cell phone or laptop for Facetime calls. It is a wonderful device. We would just call her and she didn't have to do a thing...no buttons to push, it would ring and she would realize we were coming on the screen. It made all the difference in her lonely days. And was so affordable. When we weren't video conferencing with Mom, the ViewClix became a picture frame to which we could upload photos for her to see. I should write a post about it!!

Thank you for reminding us how important these phone calls are to our loved ones.
