Interior Design: Before and After: You Don’t Need a Beach House for Coastal Colors

Before and After: You Don't Need a Beach House for Coastal Colors

Summer is here and today I’m sharing my latest design project inspired by coastal colors. This client relocated from Florida and misses her beach home so I brought the colors to her Atlanta home.

 Before:
They had a large brown sectional and lots of  neutral decor in their home. The home was already dark enough without having any pops of color. I already knew what needed to be done.

My design had to be child friendly ( 2 young boys) and pet friendly (Miller the 1 yr. old black lab) for this family.

Design Board:
I selected stain and soil resistant fabrics from Kravet and all my tables were made of reclaimed wood and iron bases. Adding beachy elements like driftwood colored tables and accessories complimented the fresh colored fabrics. Grey is also more forgiving than using off white on the large pieces of furniture. White fabrics were not an option. Labs have oily coats and shed too much. Too much maintenance with white fabrics. Denim is often used in beach homes and it’s also on the chairs.

Before:
This side wall lacked character and colorful art.

The side wall comes alive with colorful art, glass top iron console and these teal blue faux leathered stools. My little client now prefers to use this table as his eating place when watching television.
Clever boy!!!
