Interior Design: Children Designs that Grow with Them: Featuring the Little Man Cave

Kid's play/study room designed by Robin LaMonte of Rooms Revamped Interior Design

What happens when a mother of two 6 and 8 year old boys calls my interior design company to help her redesign their bedrooms, bathrooms, and the bonus room?
As a mother of 4, “Who has been there, done that”, the solution was really very simple.
I designed spaces that will grow with them.
I also have decorated many man caves and I just had to think younger..
Come and see my latest design project featuring the “Little Man Cave” and the redesigned bedrooms and bathrooms that will grow with the boys..

This project is phase one of an ongoing redesign of many rooms with my client, but the little man cave has the “Wow” factor my client was hoping for. I designed this room to be both a study and chill room for her sons.

The main design style was industrial with lots of reclaimed wood and iron, because it is more masculine and rugged for growing boys.
It is also a travel themed room because it has lots of  books and maps about stated, cities, and countries. The parents travel frequently and the 3 clocks above the desks are set to the most travelled  time zones so that the boys know what time their parents are in when away from home. (Hong Kong, Paris, and Atlanta to be exact.)

The Final results:
The study area was created by placing 2 desks side by side which saved money over a custom sized desk.
The 3 clocks are set to the timezones most travelled by their parents. Globes and travel books of countries sit on the shelves along with the mother’s Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls from her youth.

When I found this easel TV stand, I knew it was going into the little man cave. So clever!

We dropped the little swivel chair and opted to go for a larger chair in the reading nook so when grandma comes to visit the boys can sit on her lap. The fun fabric added more color to the room.

The boy’s bedrooms and bathrooms were also updated.
The bedrooms have all new furniture and queen size beds. The bedrooms will be used for out of town guests.

This dresser comes with a charging station, self closing drawers, and removable drawer partitions. But my little client loves to keep things very tidy in his drawers and loves the partitions. It also has a glass top that you can slide photos underneath the glass.
