Spring Forecast: Sunny and Bright!

What will you wear this spring after a cold and dreary winter? The spring fashion forecast is calling for bright and bold colors. I have started off this season wearing a lot of pink and orange color combinations. I love bright and happy colors so my wallet gets lighter in the springtime. For some strange reason I have worn more pink and orange combinations this year than I have in the past? What does that say about me?

Pink is the symbol for girls and in one month I will become a nana to a sweet little granddaughter. I have been busy hosting a baby shower and buying little girl things, so subliminally I have pink on my brain. So pink I am!!

The Power of the Colors- Pinks and Oranges

As an interior designer I know the psychology of color and use it often in my interiors but it is the same in fashion.

Orange symbolizes energy, balance, warmth, enthusiasm, and joy. Red-oranges define sexual passion, desire, aggression. While darker shades of orange have the downside representing deceit, show off, over-confidence. More lighter shades mean health, happiness, good manners and sophistication.
If orange is your favorite, you are more of an independent, thoughtful and fun loving person.

Pink symbolizes love, affection, heart, tenderness, friendship, innocence, charm, sweet, gentle, good health, thoughtful, kind, intuitive. A study shows that the color pink has healing properties, especially for those people going through an emotional trauma. Think Pink ribbon as a symbolic color for breast cancer. Did you know pink is also used on prison walls to calm aggressive prisoners?

If pink is your favorite, you are more of a calm, graceful, loving, and sensitive person. Brighter shades attract youth, high spirits, confidence, action, and fun. More subtle pinks bring blush, sweetness, beauty, tender romance, and unconditional love.

The Outfit

This dress is from Chico’s spring collection as well as the accessories. The earrings are new, but the tassel scarf and necklace were from last year’s collection.

This dress has a wonderful criss cross back and is made with a very soft knit. I also like the length of the dress, just above my knee. I don’t like my dresses too short.

My espadrille wedges are from Ralph Lauren’s Lauren collection from last summer but you can get similar ones here.

I love all the other colors in the dress which will make it fun changing out my jewelry.

I switched out my jewelry to turquoise and went with the white seaglass chandelier earrings all from Chico’s. The necklace is a couple years old, but I found another great necklace from Chico’s that would look great too.
