Meet My Fierce Sister: Cynthia Lawson

Good morning friends! I am so excited to introduce to you one of the original fierce 50 sisters, Cynthia Lawson.

I have a great fondness for the women who were part of the original fierce 50 which began in February of 2017. I will be introducing you to many of the original fierce sisters in the months to come. I feel it’s important to share other women’s journey after 50 with you because we are all so different but each moving forward at full throttle!

Cynthia’s Story

Cynthia Lawson is the creator of 2chicdesigns. She is a Wife, Mother of two adult children, Grandmother, Sales Representative, and designer of handbags and accessories at

www. 2chicdesigns.etsy.com.

Cynthia back in 2017 designed and made totes for women leaving the Ryker’s Island detention center as part of The Women’s Project program in New York City. The program taught these women life skills and job skills to prevent them from re-entering the criminal system. They gave clothing and accessories to women leaving the program to help them regain their dignity and self-esteem. I loved hearing that Cynthia believes in paying it forward to other women less fortunate!

Doesn’t she wear many hats!

Her fashion journey began in 2000 when she took her seven-year-old daughter to a modeling agency. To her surprise, at the end of the
casting session, they requested to take them both on. She was so shocked but accepted this assignment with great gratitude and
enthusiasm. Cynthia modeled with three organizations that were a mix of professional models and ordinary working girls of all ages.
This is where her fashion education began, as she learned about dressing for her body and ways to enhance her personal style.
The runway shows were exciting, however, it took time for Cynthia to perfect her look. Along the way, she noticed how her job industry
was obsessed with youth culture and appearances. Not to mention if you were outdated or looked old you became
invisible.

Cynthia’s mission over the last fifteen years has been to overcome this stereotype. Armed with fashion magazines and
the E network, she consistently noticed that woman like her were not represented. It wasn’t until 2009, that she discovered a hidden
world of fashion blogs written by stylish women of all ages. These soon became the fuel that she needed to bring out her true
self. She started from the top down and updated her look with a sleek new hairstyle.

Girls, a good hairstyle can immediately update your look and take years away!

She looked for the right style of clothing that complimented her body type and tried to become adventurous with her color palette. As she looked at herself in the mirror she realized, that she looks younger now than she did fifteen years ago. The styling formula she created and continue to add o, has been the guiding light in her life and really gave her a purpose.

Her family has been her inspiration and they have encouraged Cynthia on her journey. Her husband has recently retired and they celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary. He has also become her photographer. What a great looking couple!

She is grateful to God that he has orchestrated my life for good, and I stand on the scripture Psalm 92:12-15. I believe that I will continue to flourish and grow. I believe that
this Fierce50campaign will change the way the world sees woman 50 and older! We are fierce and powerful, and most of all supportive of each other.

You can continue to follow Cynthia on her blog, 2ChicDesigns. I know you’re going to enjoy following her on her journey as a woman over 50!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Hugs,

  5. So interesting about Cynthia Robin! I give her so much credit for creating items for the ladies at Rikers Island, and working on that program for helping women’s self esteem, I didn’t know that! How fabulous too that the company took on her and her daughter for modeling and that she saw a deficit in women being represented at midlife, looking to change that with her blog. Lovely pic of her and her hubby!
    Thanks for sharing!
    have a great weekend!
